Bit hard to gauge exactly what to make of it though... The missile engines were found in a Jordanian scrapyard. That raises plenty of questions in itself.

Hardly significant, they're talking about the missile that had a range of 180km instead 150km which put Iraq technically in breach, despite the fact that with a full payload the range dropped to within the acceptable range.

Rather depends on your position of strength in the world and how much of a "contribution" you can make to the US and it's interests I imagine.

Simple. Once you have them, you get to keep them.

Compare the way the US went in all guns blazing to Iraq, with the way they tippy-toe around Pakistan, North Korea and Israel, and you'll see where the world knowing you have WMD's can get you.

USA POLICY (according to George Dubya)

1. Israel can have them (they're fighting Muslims).
2. India - yes (they're fighting Muslims).
3. North Korea - can have them, because they'll cause too much damage if we start a war against them.
4. UK - can have them (as long as they are our allies).
5. France and Germany - NO (see point 4)
6. Iraq - can have them when fighting our enemy Iran (in fact we will supply them).
7. Afghanistan - can have them too when fighting the enemy USSR (again we will supply them and provide training).
8. Libya - not allowed to have them before (axis of evil) but now Saddam is enemy and Gaddafi is good bloke we can forgive them.
9. Rest of World - can have them as long as they buy from us.(USA)

10. USA must have them in case other countries religions or ways of life don't fit in with our free, democratic, fundamentalist Christian values.
