T20 shouldn't be in the international fixture. Keep it to domestic competitions only.
I think this is a good idea. Domestic T20s are doing well and are enough. Don't need internationals

I'd be happy with this! I don't mind one or two T20Is to kick off or end the Aussie summer of cricket but that's about it.

I get what your saying just want more tests less one dayers and they won't do 6. Test summer's
There's a 6 test summer next season. I'd honestly prefer a 7 or 8 test summer and maybe a 3 match ODI series.

Not necessarily a selection issue as that is covered but:

Why does Watson cop so much shit for making a crap load of 50s but having a terrible conversion rate when Rogers and Cowan before him commonly get starts and rarely go on to ton up? Because Watson hits it so crisply but then gets out in the 90/80s or makes a lot of 30s that is unfairly lambusted when Rogers and Cowan's similar scores were considered "gritty knocks."
Watson also tends to have a crapton of 10s and 15s between his 30s and 50s.
Cowan got dumped the first time he batted in both innings and failed twice. He wasn't kept in the team on the back virtually no performance for months, even years occasionally, like Watson. Its as much criiticsm of selectors as of Watson.

Opinion: Ravichandran Ashwin would definitely be capable as a Test #6, especially in India.

Have the lower order as follows and India will have the batting and bowling depth to win against South Africa.
6 Ash
7 Saha/Uthappa
8 Jadeja
9 Bhuvi
10 Shami
11 Yadav/Ishant

I don't think Jadeja is a test quality player, and I still think their fast bowling stocks are too weak. Aaron should be a massive lift once he's ready for Test level though

Behrendorff is in the Bigfooty overrating period and is good, but not better than most of the bowlers who have played at test level for Australia. See Jackson a Bird circa 2012 who nobody seems to mention any more (even considering he is/was injured)

Bird is still mentioned

Given Behr is mainly discussed as a possible Test/ODI/T20I bowler...I haven't seen anyone really suggesting he's made it past that stage by any means...and his record is excellent in all 3 formats, I don't really see how he's being overrated.

But this is the thread for it after all.

Visiting teams should play 11 v 11 first class matches against state sides leading into tests, as opposed to these 2 day matches featuring their entire squad.

Make these games actually mean some. Put in a poor performance, your record pay the price. Put in a good performance, your record for your country heightens.

Also goes a bit further into simulating match practice. Gives you a better chance of notching a tour win as a team. Gives the bowlers a better chance at bowling in partnerships in new conditions. Creates some competition for spots.

Would definitely drive me if I were a player.

"Behrenforff would be better in the ODI squad than Starc" etc

Funnily enough Indian pacers actually do better in India than in AUS, on the roads they just bowl line and length, not this short crap. Shami averages 17 at home! Yadav needs time, while Bhuvi can swing the ball well both ways and at his best he's 5-10km/h faster than what he was in Sydney. Let Aaron play Ranji for a while.

On Jaddu, his batting has been two notches below what he's capable of, but I believe that his bowling was fair in South Africa.

Ashwin has an excellent technique, but it's kind of like that phase where we were saying Mitchell Johnson could play as an all-rounder. I think you just have to look at the batting of those guys and see it as a bonus as opposed to expecting them to deliver the results required to justify playing a more significant role with the bat.

It's more unpopular to say that T20 has a place at international level. The T20WC is an excellent event - the problems arise when nations inevitably (and to be fair, quite justifiably) treat their bilateral matches as an opportunity to rest the best and blood uncapped players.

I'd like to see a real Australia A vs West Indies/New Zealand tour match next year over 4 days. Let's say that theoretically Rogers, Watson, Haddin and Harris have retired. I vote we put in a team like:

Silk
Stoinis
Burns
White (c)
Handscomb
M Marsh
Whiteman
Starc
Pattinson
Cummins
Boyce

This is assuming Warner, Clarke, Smith, S Marsh, Johnson, Hazlewood and Lyon are automatic starters.
