Hes still only 21 and we have decent depth at his position. He'll get his go, just has to make the most of it when hes on.

Looking at the bench, there was no one else you'd drop ahead of him.

Decent depth even with 7 injuries. I honestly think we have more depth than Chelsea, it's just they have a better starting side and can keep them fit while we can't.

It's almost time to play a second string side in the group stage. At least on our travels.

I must admit it was quiet weird seeing us being up 5-1 and then 2 of our best attackers coming on.

You have to wonder what is to become of vela, played reserves instead of being on the bench.
Well, (you already know this will be biased, but whatever) he clearly has the skill to be an accomplished left winger. He has a great cross but not a great right foot. HE JUST NEEDS A ****ING CHANCE TO PROVE HIMSELF. Seriously though, Wenger gives him the no.11 shirt and then doesn't play him. WTF. I got all excited thinking this would finally be his year to breakthrough but no, even with Van Persie out Wenger doesn't give him a game.

I suppose the whole party thing in Mexico could have something to do with it, I hope not though.

Another typically brilliant CL performance - be massive if we can bring that form to city.

At the risk of infuriating the masses, I beg to differ. We looked scintillating at times, yet I actually thought a lot of our key players were pretty sloppy for the most part, particularly in the first half. Cesc in particular was really rusty, and Chamakh didn't make a great impact when the early heat was on. Our first goal was a glorious stroke of poor mishandling on Shaktar's part, and they should've leveled not long after, which probably would've dramatically altered the course of the match.

That said, credit to Eboue who played his best game in our shirt, Jack was really solid, Song is becoming a gem, and it was great to get some game time into Cesc and Theo.

I often ask myself why do we beat up on these top Euro teams? It seems that they're not as skilled at the more physical aspect of the game ... you know, the type of game that the likes of Bolton, Stoke, Brum etc bring, who tend to crunch and intimidate our youngsters. Or maybe there's more at stake in the CL and opposition players are reluctant to risk send-offs, or maybe they all aspire to play beautiful football at the expense of percentage football?

Anyway, 5-1 makes for exciting viewing, even if it doesn't really resolve the clear issues we seem to have with the glamour teams of Europe.

I agree with what you are saying that it wasn't our greatest performance... but you're judging that on the number of opportunities we had...

I felt alot more comfortable during this game than other "dominant" displays cause we never really were in trouble defensively (except the first minute of the second half)... our defense was really impressive imo... I thought Djourou was great... and Eboue was stellar... Squilaci and Glichy didn't do too much wrong either...

Song isn't becoming a Gem... he is as gem and has been since the start of last season...

I know heaps of praise is going to Jack... and i agree he was good... but i rate players who do little wrong very highly and I thought Djourou, Song and Nasri were almost error-less.

Good to have Cesc and Theo back...

Really pleased with our defensive game... it felt more like a controlled Chelsea game than a flamboyant Arsenal game

Song still has a lot to learn, he's getting there. When he is 25 he will be the best DM in the league imo.

As a defensive mid... he does it as good as anyone else... his forte forward I agree, he is getting better at but still needs work...

De Jong has no-one covered, except Wilshere in the poor tackles category.
