Accidental head clash between a defender and forward rightfully challenging for a ball a enough to be deemed a penalty now?.

So how many years before this kind of call gets made, if ever, again?

When slowed down it appears that Saliba makes contact with the ball

Yep it gets worse every time I see it. Cannot recall an accidental head clash ever being deemed a penalty before. I remember a few weeks ago when Sommer clattered Merino with his fist away at Inter, he was now where near the ball and looked a blatant punch to me. But it’s dismissed as “nah incidental contact to the head is just part of the territory when going for a ball in the box”.

It was genuinely funny seeing Michael “had no choice” Oliver stand and watch as Holjund kicked the ball away yesterday delaying the restart at Anfield. The good ol “letter of the law” didn’t seem to apply there hey :D

The standards of officiating continue to plummet. But thankfully the propaganda Ref Watch show will convey the message that all is okay….

Meanwhile, Nwaneri confirmed out for a few weeks with a muscle injury. Supposedly a thigh strain. So that’s Saka, Havertz, Sterling, Nwaneri absent from the forward group.
