Another game of being pretty inept up front

Why is sterling taking the penalty as well??

I think it was one of “charity” penalties, to get him on the scoresheet.

Reality is with the amount of football to be played, the injuries to Jesus and Saka, uncertainty if well sign a forward in the coming days, were going to need Sterling. Somehow, some way Arsenal need to get him going. A goal here would’ve been excellent for him.

How do you explain 6 red cards to Arsenal opponents against 2 for City opponents?

Are we talking about Oliver or in general?

What’s the source so I can look? I don’t know.

My reaction has been over the top to this, yes I know but I’m over trying to be civil with the vast majority of fans (opposing and the vast majority Arsenal).

And it’s on top of my absolute hatred for the standard (or non-existing) of officiating in football in general.

You can think there’s nothing to it and that’s fine.

But to completely dismiss logical evidence that there could be a legitimate possibility that a referee is bias (for whatever reason) is unacceptable to me.

I mean we literally had a case of bias with the David Coote admission 🤷‍♂️

Yep the chances were slim to begin with I felt. They’re not selling both Duran and Watkins within days of each other in the same window, it was one or the other. Plus I cannot envisage Emery selling to Arsenal.

Call me cynical, but making a bid for Watkins after Djuran was confirmed to be going smells a lot like “Look, we tried!” Knowing there was no chance it could happen this window.

I understand the skepticism, and you’re definitely not the only one. There was always a low chance of this coming off I felt, why would Emery sell to Arsenal sticks out to me as a main hurdle.

I believe Arsenal bid off the back of encouragement from Watkins’ representatives, the bid was made before it was revealed yesterday (Ornstein said last Monday, before the Duran to Saudi stuff really heated up). Perhaps Arsenal was informed incorrectly, I don’t know, that he was available if a move was made at that time.

Which warrants the question, if we really wanted him, why do this last week instead of January 1? And that in itself tells me that he’s not the primary target, Sesko is/was. And that was being worked on however failing that, and Isak essentially being unobtainable, Arsenal have pivoted to Watkins.

I cannot imagine why Villa would sell both Duran and Watkins in the same window, even though there’s rumours of them loaning in Rashford and Felix.

Given the reported second bid for Watkins was £60m, at this point it would likely take something around £80m or more to get him in. A transfer that size would basically mean no further forward additions in the summer. Is 29yo Watkins really the guy we want to build around going into next season?

If Sesko is the one they have their hopes pinned on, then they are better off waiting for the summer. At least he is young, has room to improve and will have some sort of resale value if it doesn't work out (although given Arteta's ability to tank the value of players that is not a sure thing).

It is frustrating that the only apparent options are £60m - £80m players. Regardless of whether we can acquire the goldilocks signing, the squad needs forward depth, just as it did in August. Surely they can identify another Trossard type to at least relieve some pressure from a forward line that looks cactus at the end of every game? Inexpensive, unsexy, but functional. Going into the next four months without some sort of addition would be squad management malpractice.

Yes mate agreed with all of this. This signing is so crucial, so much rides in getting it right. The centre forward signing is akin to the jewell in the crown of the Arteta rebuild, it could be the difference between continually coming close or actually winning shit.

Lacazette, Aubameyang and Pepe were all bought for enormous fees in consecutive windows with long commitments. The ramifications are then felt for years in taking up those squad positions. If Arsenal want Sesko, then I think it’s a deal that needs to be done asap in the summer window. If he’s the right profile, the correct player identified, then we cannot botch it now by taking up that space with someone else who doesn’t necessarily tick all of the boxes. Arsenal don’t need just “a body” in the squad, we need the right one.

The situation is more complicated because of the Jesus injury. It’s a huge blow for him and the club, just as he was back to his best output. He will remain in the squad next season and fill a spot on very hefty wages too.

Isak is beyond reach I feel. Newcastle just don’t like Arsenal, and I cannot imagine them selling to us unless you’re talking about £120m+. Which is not going to happen. There’s learnings there that I feel the club is aware of with regards to the Sesko situation. We had the chance at €60m for Isak 3 years ago, but passed.

Similar to Saliba, talent identification is critical here. You gotta sign them before they hit that world class level, they’re beyond reach afterwards. In 2-3 years time if Sesko hits those heights, he’s €120m+ given the worth of strikers in the market.

There has to be something else we can do here in the remaining few days. A Trossard style signing would be fantastic, or a European loan? Tel has been mentioned however so any clubs are in for him.

Ferguson from Brighton is available on loan however our two loan spots from the PL are taken by Neto and Sterling. Make Neto permanent perhaps to free up a spot? Off the back of the CL performance, maybe not haha.

Ferguson worries me because of his injuries. If we bring in a loan player (even if it were possible) we need someone who know will be available. I'm still scared by Kim Kallstrom.
