Griffiths - an even 200cm.

Is it a possibility that we could see him building a tank and having a go in the ruck in the 'Burgers?

Obviously there is some fudging of the numbers here.

Pretty sure Shane Edwards has grown a centremetre or two. Matt White has gone from 179 to 180. Jacko has never previously been listed at 190. Griff may have grown 1.5cm due to his youth but considering the other fudging who knows.

You're never really a constant height even after you stop growing. Your height can fluctuate due to gravity's pressure on your spine.

If they measured them early in the morning and then again late at night it would show most would have shrunk as you're normally tallest right out of bed.

I think if you take away 100 from there height and that is their weight that is ideal for a footballer. Say a player is 195cm and he is 95-97kg's i'd be happy with that. Most of the player's we drafted and have on our list are around that mark atm which is good. Love Arnot at 180cm and 87kg's! Edwards is almost their only a kg or 2 off. Post and Astbury both weight the same and are the same height, So take your pick haha

Yep, normally by around 10-20mm

helbig +6 i doubt it.
batchelor +8 to 86kg if he was only 78kg last yr id go heave.
all i can say is what steroids are they on.
graham +4
grimes +4

these are the only players 4 of them who have put on more than 2kg unless i have missed someone. thing is by the start of the yr they will lose most of it back.

as far as older players growing well what a joke i highly doubt it. its the same for al of us. by 18 you are basically done growing. you may grow the odd cm up to about age 22. yes as with all things related to humans there is the odd exception.

will finish by saying a good mate of mine is a body builder hes won mr australasia/oceania whatever its called. and a few other titles. ive spoken to him about actually putting on muscle and according to him 3 or 4kg is a very good return for a body builder yet alone a footballer.
come the start of the yr nearly all of our players will be close to what they were last yr. if grimes helbig and batchelor put on 3 or 4 kg they will have done well.
theres no real surprises there, apart from batchelors 8kg gain which clearly is a mistake. and helbigs 6kg gain which may be possible but i doubt.

Reckon batch, helbig and grimes started putting on weight during the 2011 season and post season. So it's over about 9 months they have gained weight from the previous figure. Batchelor looks big from his recent roarvision videos

at that age some people will put on 3-4kg naturally though craw. add in the weight work and bigger gains are possible.
must admit i am a bit sceptical about batch gaining 8 kgs too, though

I put on around 7 kg in a year, from age 19 to 20. Basically because of cycling, and no, there were no drugs involved, well, no steroidal ones anyway. Got me the nickname of the "Frog".

But Batch has nearly always looked heavier than the 78kg stated figure he he started at.

not saying im right al most likely wrong.
but there is a diffeence between weight and muscle gain. to gain 8kg of muscle i have to say no way not in such a short space of time.

i once put on about 5 kg in a month just by changing my eating habits and stop exercising. once i started running again with a half decent diet it soon stripped off me.
look im no expert just stating the little i know.

afl players are among the leanest athletes in the world any gain we talk of is primarily in muscle it usually takes time and a lot of hard work to gain it. especially when other important aspects are factored in like aerobic fitness.

Wow, Griff is 2m now, geez him and Vicks could do serious damaage as 2nd and 3rd talls if we can get him up and running!

Grigg 190cm wtf, he better harden up with that frame he's got

Batch, Helbig, Grimes, Astbury, Post all very good weight gain since last year. Especially Batch 8 kilos wow

Arnot is a beast at 87 kilos for a 180cm mid in his first pre-season, could be another Josh Hunt

I would have thought that our 'Sports Science' dept would weigh and measure the boys at the same time of the day every time. If not, then we need a new sports science dept.....

I'm no guru on these things but one thing I was told by my cousin who is a PT (worked for North back in the Carey days - oh the stories) and he says that muscle weighs more than fat which is the reason a lot of people get disheartened when they initially put weight on when trying to lose weight through exercise. Although obviously none of these boys would be fat coming to the club, I reckon you would see a steeper spike in their weight (muscle mass) in their first couple of full pre-seasons (effectively years 2-3) as the club comes to understand what they need.
