Twice we have had more than qualified women as candidates for POTUS and both times they have lost. I do think all points are up for discussion on this. Its part of reflection. Whether you like it or not, some people did vote against Harris because of race, others because she is a women and others because she is both.

Mistakes the democrats made:

I didnt think much of it at the time in terms of its affect on the elections but it was noticeable now I do think this is something the democrats didnt do well and it did cost them the election.

Firstly Harris didnt attack Trump on the economy enough. They had at their disposal the trillions of dollars he added to the national debt which would have absolutely dictated the inflationary measures that skyrocketed the cost of living that so many claimed to be the reason they voted Trump. So that was a complete oversight and really they fumbled the ball on this one. They also failed to mention inflation is going down. Whether we like it or not, over 50% of people are politically ignorant and they are just workers and families just struggling to pay their bills and give their kids opportunity. So I can understand why so many were disenchanted. Harris needed to address this and I acknowledge she didnt which I would be interested to understand why her strategists didnt mention this.

Secondly, Harris and the democrats never really addressed his sexual predator past. This was a screw up. I mean of monumental proportions. From the moment Biden took to the stage in the first debate, the first thing out of his mouth should have been this guy is a sexual predator and a danger to women. Then listed off all his connections to Epstein, his sexual assault history with all the hush money he has paid and his infidelity. Instead they seemed intent on running on the abortion issue and the threat to democracy. So basically the first two issues I mentioned here is the reason she lost. She tried to play nice to create the difference with Trump but all people saw was weakness.

Thirdly, his age. Yes they used attack adds by the middle of the campaign but attack adds are meaningless in a society obsessed with streaming services, gaming and apps. Of all the screw ups, Harris should have walked on stage in the debate and absolutely torched his age and compared him to Biden at the same age. But she didnt. Again, merely sat idol.

Overall I think while Harris ran a good campaign, but in hindsight it was lazy and never really laid a punch. I think they thought they were the favourites, its an easy win, we just focus on womens rights, abortion and mix in a few other policies and we will win. But the curious thing is still the polls. This was a disaster for the polling companies. Everyone was blisteringly off.

PS: At what point should Harris say the election was stolen? She was up in the polls and all but one of the swing states.

Why involve the right with discussion about racism and sexism about the election result when this behaviour should be applied to the left voters?

The Republicans voted for the Republican candidate - as usual.

The racist and sexist Democrats who voted for the white man last time, couldn't get over their bigoted views and vote for THEIR black woman this time.

If the same lefties who voted Biden voted for Harris she would have romped in. To try and blame the Republican voters is absurd. Why would these voters abandon their candidate and vote for the Democrat candidate??

Apply some critical thinking to what you believe.

As an example if the Libs here in Australia put up an Indigenous woman to run for the PM would you label the Labour voters racist and sexist if they didn't all vote for her??

All good points. I dont mean do a blanket accusation about voters being racist and misogynist, I mean have the discussion. Have a deep analysis of the candidates with no bias and when you do its easy to conclude Harris no doubt ran the better campaign. Hands down. Trumps was a walking dumpster fire. But he won because of several issues, economy and immigration being a couple. There was a huge protest vote that went against Harris and it wasnt because of race and sexism.

If Trump ends up doing even half of what the democrats warned he would do with project 2025 and abortion etc then there is a very real question voters have to answer, why didnt they heed the warning?

Its all semantics. No choice now but to hope he walks in and governs for the people.

Not sounding dire, but if I was Rudd, id be preparing to be sent packing by Trump by February. Trump is consistent and he has never dealt with criticism well. Plus Trump wants loyalists so he would expect countries to send more right wing people who will support him.

Its not ending there is my thought, the pain and anguish that the democrats put not just him but plenty of others through on this means that the incoming Trump team and revamped DoJ will be likely to open up a big investigation into all of it and look to hold bad actors responsible and not one of them can say a word against it after what they have done

What have they done?

This is the problem. Dont mistake things going away as some sort of proof Trump was a political target. His crimes are very real.

But his enemies list is not a list id want to be on.

Except that they’re not blunders: this is who they are.

They opened the borders ON PURPOSE.

They spent billions of taxpayer dollars on endless proxy wars ON PURPOSE.

They push sick, demented trans ideology onto children ON PURPOSE.

They push nonsense climate policies that raise the cost of living ON PURPOSE.

They implemented history’s most comprehensive wealth transfer away from the middle class, during Covid, ON PURPOSE.

They mandated a dangerous medical product that most healthy people didn’t need ON PURPOSE.

I could go on and on. None of it is an accident, it is about transferring power and wealth away from YOU and putting it into the hands of THEM.

Trump is a bulwark against all of that and it’s why they have literally tried to put a bullet through his head.
