All the news reports I read about LA/California donating to Ukraine mentioned protective equipment. None of them mentioned fire trucks.

Yeah man that one truck that was retired from service and replaced with a new truck would have made a massive difference

If you read that thread you would see that it was retired from service and replaced with a new truck.

According to an anonymous tweet. Probably one of the Mayor or Governor's army of face saving shills. Governments typically auction vehicles only a few years from new. So it still had considerable value. We have no proof it was replaced in an environment of budget cuts.

Why would these vehicles need to be tested by the California authorities before they could join the fire fighting effort?
What tests are they conducting on them? Safety? Emissions? Surely if they meet the requirements in their home state they're good enough to be in Ca temporarily to fight fires?

I don't think this is a good look. Don't think I'm going to bother commenting on American politics any more. It's sickening me. Any country that spends $2.1 Trillion and 21 years in Afghanistan to replace the Taliban with .... the Taliban isn't worth any more of my time.

So what.
3.95%?
You're squibbing over 3.95% of direct Democratic donations to those two charities?
The Dems could have provided direct links for people who wanted to donate, yet they didn't do that and instead provided a link they could skim off the top of. And you're here white knighting for them. Unbelievable.

Do you think they should schedule the controlled burns during winter?
Yep and apparently they should empty and close down reservoirs for repairs during the summer fire period.

Simple fact is that building in one of the most fire prone areas on the planet has consequences. More houses in the environment that is SoCal simply means less ability to manage fires.

Maybe this time after the last three remaining insurance companies stop insuring houses the area will become the exclusive domain of the "rich and famous" who don't have to worry about petty little issues like skyrocketing insurance.

The fires are a inevitable consequence of allowing for excessive development in a intensely dangerous fire prone location.

Edit - too late - I see that Newsom has already agreed to loosen planning regulations to allow for rebuilding.

Manage the forest floor and do control burns so fires don't have the fuel to burn so hot the caight be fought

Ahh minor point I know but Southern California doesn't have "forests" - it has coastal sage scrub and thousands and thousands of highly flammable houses.

Kamala left the Dems $20million in debt after the election. They were calling for donations the next day. Probably haven’t got there yet 🙂

You’ll know when they are really strapped for cash because they will be trying to sell watches, bibles and sneakers.

California has been in decline for a while but is probably at the FUBAR stage right about now.

Gruesome Newsom just kissed his presidential ambitions goodbye, which is probably a good thing for the rest of the country.

CA is a great example of what happens when latte soy boi made up reality crashes into actual reality.
