Even the lefties at Washington Post can admit it

Today, The Washington Post quotes an anonymous diplomat insider of the ceasefire negotiations as saying the deal had been reached in part due to the influence of the president-elect: “(It was) the first time there has been real pressure on the Israeli side to accept a deal”.

Mr Trump’s statement pre-empted the official White House ceasefire announcement by several hours.

“Trump will bask in the accomplishment, proclaiming that he instantly achieved what Biden could not in over a year,” says Professor Byman.

And allowing him to do so appears to be in Israel’s favour.

“Politically, the deal enables Israel to score points with the new administration, which had promised to end the war upon taking office,” he adds.

And Mr Trump’s threat that “all hell will break out” will not need to come to pass.

“What that meant in practice was unclear, but it certainly sounded scary,” Byman states.

“He also put significant pressure on Netanyahu to accept a deal, according to Israeli news reports.”

A jubilant Trump vowed to “continue to work closely with Israel and our Allies to make sure Gaza NEVER again becomes a terrorist safe haven …”

“We will continue promoting PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH throughout the region, as we build upon the momentum of this ceasefire to further expand the Historic Abraham Accords. This is only the beginning of great things to come for America, and indeed, the World!”

A ceasefire deal just got done, similar to the one Biden organised a few months back. This one does include a deal for the hostages as well which is great, but Netenyahu has yet to confirm his government's agreement on any of it. Lets hope he does, but you've gone a tad early.

It wouldnt have been a war anyway. A pushback would have taken hours to complete, 3 days at max. It wasnt restarting a war, just pushing back a insurgence to prevent a takeover. Basic common sense stuff you will find

True. Netanyahu will bow down to Trump however. Guy is a coward when its all said and done.

Im an expert in common sense.

Its not too hard to understand that burn offs prevent fires and running away from a couple thousand troops so the women of Afghanistan can be persecuted at will when you are the most powerful army in the world is a bad idea

Its still a really positive result. But you're so invested in a bloke on the other side of the world who wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire you have to embellish even his wins, such is your level of psychological thrall.

Again, we all hope that this one lasts. But considering Trump's statements about Israel needing to "finish the job", wouldn't hold my breath just yet.

If anyone had tapes on Trump you would have seen them by now. Theyd have been used to prevent him from being in power, not to manipulte him after he is in power

Imagine trying to manipulate someone AFTER he is control of the biggest army of the world. Akin to saying "Okay you pick up the machete and once you have the machete then lets fight"
