Absolutely. Field of view is very limited when wearing them (especially if wearing over both eyes) and you have to keep turning your head to retain situational awareness.

Temporary loss of natural night vision becomes a problem once you take them off. It's best to wear over one eye and leave the other one uncovered.

All the same, I think air traffic control is most likely to be the guilty party here.

I sense the blame will be shared. They were off their designated route and well above their height limit. Also some talk that 3 crew is bare minimum for the Black Hawk and that in this situation there really should have been 4.

It was strange that initially, Rebecca Lobach's name was not released. She died serving her country, usually something that is commemorated and that would make her family proud.

It has been reported that she worked as an White House aide in the Biden administration. That would have come to an end recently. Despite outranking her two colleagues, she might not have flown a helicopter for some time, hence the 'training flight'.

Having a single Air Traffic controller doing the job of two ATCs seems to be a much bigger factor.

At certain times of the day it was the role of one. The second was let go a bit early but the whole thing is a shit show. She'd had a non-flying billet for two years, was being evaluated in busy airspace by someone she outranked, was at least 150 ft above the height limit ceiling and ATC let someone go home early.

Wow. Did not expect such bigotry from you. Didn't the Nazi's falsely accuse black people as being less intelligent? We can all drag out studies that match our biases. I'm sure there's plenty around that would show cognitive ability positively associated conservatism and plenty that show the opposite. It's a meaningless slippery slope to go down this path.

A lot of people are claiming the release was delayed to allow them time to scrub her social media. With all the scrutiny that was going to come from a case like this it's probably not unexpected.

Yes. She outranked them because she was a commissioned officer and they weren't.
