Nothing wrong with upper level at a basketball arena. its not like a football stadium were youre miles away.
Yeah, I had upper level seats at the United Center and at the Staples Center and they were still good. You could see everything and you were still involved in the atmosphere as well.

If you don't mind me asking, where were your seats and how much were they? Was this at MSG

Were they good seats, lower section of nose bleeds?

From doing a bit of research, I've discovered tickets at MSG are rather expensive. Therefore, I'm contemplating or what game to go to. Do I pay a bit more and see the Knicks and pay mega bucks at MSG, go to Brooklyn for a game or wait until I get to Washington DC (John Wall is a stud) or the Orlando Magic and JJ Redick (who??).

I guess the price will be the factor as I don't want to pay for nose bleed tickets any more. I'm a sports snob, so I guess I will pay anywhere between $250 and $350 for a ticket as long as it's in the lower section.

We were in the 200s section. 223 to be exact. Cost was $89 each. The guy next to us was saying it's better to sit where we were mid court than on one of the corners on the lower levels where he usually sits. But if you can get lower level on the sidelines between each baseline you'd be laughing.

Really worth going to even though the home crowd didn't walk away with the win.

Saw Chelsea at Stanford Bridge 2yrs ago get done by Sunderland 3-1 when the were 5 points clear on top of the epl. Seems as though the overwhelming favourites dont like winning when we're there.

If the prices aren't too bad, go to MSG. It isn't the best stadium in the world, but it is one of the most iconic and it couldn't be easier to get to.

Now having said that, when I was back in NY visiting family after my stay in Australia, one of my first stops was going to the Barclays Center. It is just an amazing place to watch basketball, everything about it is state of the art (though the PA blasts music all throughout the game which can get annoying). You really can't go wrong with either of them. Definitely go to one of them over the Verizon Center in DC.

Yeah I sat in the upper stand and it was great. I reckon it would he hard to get a bad seat at MSG
I sat in the upper stand in the season opener Knicks v Celtics back in 2004 and the knicks copped a flogging so the atmosphere wasn't that great but still a great experience to be there.

Got to see Spike Lee, Paris Hilton and Howard Stern who had a hottie on his arm .

We're leaving Christmas night, so we still have a whist to wait before booking tickets.

I think I will get in really early and book some lower section tickets.

I've seen a game in Seattle, Portland, Staples, Golden State and Chicago. Getting to MSG is on the list.

Just home from a heavy night in NYC. Went to Rangers v Islanders at MSG tonight. Again the bloody underdog got up when they really had no right to. Anyway it is by far the best sport I've seen live. I really cannot describe why, but we had the lead up to the game in the surrounding bars, the atmosphere after 2 early Rangers' goals, an early fight (and then a few later in the crowd), some heavy hits (nothing too huge tho), a comeback and then a shootout in OT2. It was amazing.

The fans are very one-eyed but make it all the more entertaining. Their atmosphere is great.

Also walked the Brooklyn Bridge today. Although it is just a bridge, for whatever reason it is just a special thing to do - and feel. And the views from the other side of the river are pretty awesome also. We'll head back to Brooklyn over the weekend to explore it more.

I've spend 20 years watching AFL at AAMI Stadium, the quality of the stadium I go to will never be a worry.

It's the teams and players I remember but going to MSG will be signed off on this trip.

Where did you sit for the ice hockey as we are going to Rangers Vs Flyers in a couple of weeks.

Nicely put. It's pretty special - one of my highlights when I was in NYC.

Sat in section 120, so lower levels on the corner. Good seats with about 1m of ice obstructed directly in front of us which I'd imagine happens anywhere you sit considering the wall. Cost was around $130 from Stubhub.

I cant imagine anyone not liking a hockey game after last night. It was definitely a night where I sat back and pinched myself

Did the crowd get a "Potvin Sucks" chant going?

I was over in NYC for xmas and managed to get a ticket for $99. Would've been around the 10th of December IIRC. It was obscured viewing, but in all honesty all that meant was that I had to lean to my left a little bit to see everything. Bargain price.

Where'd you get your ticket? Ive been looking on stubhub and off the website and generally it's over 200.

Anyone had the chance to attend a college football game? Would like to see a couple if I got over there, anyone care to explain their experience? Would like to get a maybe a couple of games in the south, Ole Miss, LSU or maybe Texas.

A longhorn game is high on my sports bucket list,

The SEC schools have amazing tailgates, and Ole Miss (the women in the Grove, dear lord) and LSU (I think they still start tailgating on Wednesday for a Saturday game) are two of the great ones. The downside, however, is that you're going to find yourself in awful places such as Baton Rouge and Mississippi. UTexas is the best bet.

I actually went to school at Ole Miss. The Grove is an amazing place to be on a football Saturday, and the people are really friendly. It's one of the smallest SEC schools, but the fans are just as passionate as any other school's. My memories of football Saturdays are a little blurred, as I was usually a little tipsy, but the atmosphere was always awesome. Some dress up for the game, so you'll have plenty of eye candy in cocktail dresses. The campus is flooded by fans from all over the south. Parking is impossible to find on campus on game day. Every available patch of ground has a tent on it... And usually, the people who have tents will randomly offer you food, drink, etc. one thing you should know is that Lafayette County, where Ole Miss is located, is a dry county. Oxford itself is a wet town, but the campus is supposedly "dry". If you wander around the Grove, I'm fairly confident someone will be kind enough to share whatever alcohol they have. One more thing about alcohol... You will not be able to buy hard liquor after 10pm, or beer after midnight, and they don't sell any alcohol on Sundays. The bars close earlier on Saturdays, and you cannot buy cold beer.

If you do go to an Ole Miss game, you might want to learn our cheer, the Hotty Toddy. ;)

Oxford, Mississippi is not an awful place, especially if you're only staying for a couple of days. There's plenty of good bars and restaurants around town, and the hotels are decent. I'm curious, why don't you like Mississippi?

I went to an LSU game in 2011 and can't recommend it highly enough. The tailgating is fantastic - Louisiana folk are known for their cuisine and hospitality and you will very likely be offered free booze and food. Plus the team walk down to the stadium is like a mini Grand Final parade. My wife hates american football and she still reckons it was the highlight of our trip - loved the bands and cheerleaders mostly.
In regards to a previous poster, Baton Rouge is nothing compared to Austin but it's only 70 miles from New Orleans.

It was probably more of a comment on the surrounding areas. I haven't been to Oxford but drove through the delta from Vicksburg to Memphis and it felt like the arse hole of America - I was stunned that such rural poverty still existed in a first-world country.

MrKK I guess I see things differently, but I'm a Las Vegas native. If you ever want to see the arseh*le of America, drive from Vegas to Reno. There's nothing like driving through endless desert and mountains and depressing little towns with brothel advertisements to make you appreciate what you have. :p

On a more serious note, Mississippi is the most impoverished, or one of the most impoverished states in America. The median income is under 20k a year.
