Public forums are not a place for allegedly slanderous comments. It doesn't matter if it is a public forum or not , in the eyes of the law, it does not excuse slanderous comments. Action has been initiated.

Slanderous comments in regards to a clubs financial position, well if they are that worried about it. There must be some truth to it. As for action has been initiated, do really think Im worried about it. Doesnt bother me in the slightest. I think the boys at Parade spent more time worrying about their team then what is being said on a public forum, then their club wouldnt be in the situation as to what they are now, which is facing a double drop......
I'm no expert but I think you can only argue defamation if the said "slander" is actually not true. I think that the burden of proof of the falsity of a statement requires more than mere assertion that it's false.
In other words you can't be done for making slanderous comments if they are true... So I think I am safe with this one:

Some interesting info that has been passed around through private messages. Thanks boys. Isn't it interesting that the blokes who sit here slagging off at Parade are blokes who are low grade footballers that have nothing to do but slag their old club. Two of them who left Parade to play at lowly Ivanhoe because they could not get a game in the ones. One of them in fact struggled to get a game in the two's at Parade. I believe the boys used to call one of them Samboy behind his back because he has such a big chip on his shoulder. He strutted around like he owned the place but in fact was maybe the most overated player to play at Parade. He was a good junior footballer but couldn't cut it with the men so he ran to a lower grade where he was not exposed. The third is a hack who attended Parade and tries to build himself up by putting others down and is not well liked in any football circle. He feels the need to stir up trouble by hiding behind a key board and trying to be an assassin. Pretty tough doing that. Takes a lot of courage. We know who you all are and to be honest probably expect it from blokes who had to run and hide in a lower grade and then assinate the club you walked out on because you were not good enough to get a game. It is easy to blame a club for your own failings. Have a look at your own miserable careers and your lack of ability to face people as men. Keep running, keep hiding and keep typing rubbish. It only adds to our knowledge of what sort of insipid individuals you must be.

I suggest you update your law my friend. Changes to the law in 2006 abolished the difference between libel and slander. I really suggest you stay out of this one.
The general law has divided defamation into two categories - libel and slander. Libel is the publication of defamatory matter in permanent form, while slander is the publication of defamatory matter in non-permanent form. Something defamatory that is printed in a newspaper or book is libel, but the same thing, if spoken, is slander.
Since the introduction of the Defamation Act on 1st January 2006, the distinction between slander and libel is abolished and the publication of defamatory matter of any kind is actionable without proof of special damage.

This thread has about 1% of the class of last years. Geeves will not even log on he is that upset. Good luck to Parade in 07 i say. My spies have a different Spin "oso" on things down there. Numbers and talented youth are plentiful. The Raiders will not be doing any double drop.
Had a coffee this morning with an ex BT President and believe that they are a little worried about who will finally show and play. As neighbouring clubs are offering the dollars, there is a little bit of nervousness in regards to just whom will stay loyal. The next few weeks will be critical.
