On the porch
Loved him as a player. True Geelong legend.
Heartfelt condolences, gone too soon.

Murray WitcombeMy memory of that era is now hazy, but did Ray Card play the other wing to Turner?
Ruck rover?Murray Witcombe
Card was more a ‘nuggety HBF ‘ Cats had a few of those, who made you earn every kick.My memory of that era is now hazy, but did Ray Card play the other wing to Turner?
The 80's was a golden age for wingers and Mick Turner was one of the best. A highlight reel -
Flower was and still is very under rated. Absolute championAlso, opposition teams absolutely tried to expose him.
Rick Barham used to torch him.
And Flower was just out of this world as a player. I dont know why he stayed at Melbourne. He's in the top 10 that I've ever seen. It was almost Flower vs the other team back then.
284 goals from a wing !!!! doubt no one could match thatBrilliant speed, forgot he was so adept on both feet, and also a great mark for his size
To be accurate, he ended up as a HFF later in his career.284 goals from a wing !!!! doubt no one could match that

We wondered where you were.Just a tremendous footballer who had it all...
A sad day for the GFC...
We wondered where you were.
I saw most of his career. But you know what? I dont remember him bouncing left handed. And it doesnt make sense.
Nice post. Presuming here you're referring to Mike Turner, and not DieselA centre line of G Ablett, G Williams, and M Turner. There aren't too many more potent than that one.
I know at the time the club had a shortsighted administration - secretary mainly - and they were quibbling over the few shekels Greg wanted Mike advocated strongly to pay it because he was a once-in-a-generation player. He was really pissed off when the club wouldn't budge. Apparently, the club thought that because Greg was about to marry a Geelong girl he wouldn't leave. What a blunder.
He also wanted to return to the club in some capacity and I believe made unsuccessful overtures to that end.
I saw him in the members at the 'G' in a final during the Blight era. He was sitting on the aisle under the old coach's box and most of the match-day coaches acknowledged him as they went out to the huddle at ¼ time. As he was by himself I spoke to him and although he didn't know me at all he couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating.
Sadly missed.
Yep! I only referenced the Williams contract matter because Mick felt so strongly about it. Said so publicly. Think he might have been skipper at the time.Nice post. Presuming here you're referring to Mike Turner, and not Diesel
True that; coaching roles. Imagine Mick Turner as coach instead of say, Ayres.Yep! I only referenced the Williams contract matter because Mick felt so strongly about it. Said so publicly. Think he might have been skipper at the time.
