Inaugural Eagle

From memory he was a really talented player at Claremont hence his inclusion in the initial squad but was plagued by injury after playing in our first two games

Didn’t play for us again and played 7 games for Brisbane in 1990

From memory he was a Mainy type, covered a lot of territory on the wing, got a lot of ball and had a bit of an up and under kick.
He didn't really get a chance to show his best. RIP

Very sad!

We haven’t lost many Eagles over the years - touch wood - condolences to his family.

Got me thinking who the oldest eagles player would be

First thought was Ross Glendinning (currently 67) but it would be Rob Wiley (69)

Can’t think of who else from that inaugural side who’d be older

Shannon Hurn?

Wiley was the oldest to play a game for the club back in the day so I’d suspect he’d be the one.

Sad news, being part of the first ever Eagles team is a great achievement in itself. There haven't been many Eagles who have passed, only another 2 that I'm aware of?

Feeling real old when I read that list.
This probably makes me the Grandad of this board ( yes outdoing Keys ).

That’s my cohort - I played along side a couple on that list.

As for Peter Davidson he was a really well liked player at Claremont.
Was, as said previously, very talented but also very injury prone.
Was the cousin of Alan ( Shorty ) Daniels, both Collie boys.

From memory he was part of a three way Club trade:
Ken Marshall : Subiaco - Swans.
Greg Wilkinson: Claremont- Subiaco.
Peter Davidson: Swans - Claremont.

He wanted to play along side his cousin at Claremont.

In the long term Claremont lost big time on that trade as Wilkinson became a stalwart of Subiaco and the WAFL, premiership player Subiaco and state captain.
Great guy is Wilkinson also - played along Wilko for quite a few games.
Always give him heaps for the mark of the year picture ….. unfortunately it was his shoulders that Michael Mitchell stood on to take the mark of the year.

Peter was also a chick magnet, at best you might get the stray leftovers.
Great sort to have around the Club, very humble and a tad shy.

Oh.

And as for you Bender_ … I give a * that he died.

Bender was referring to the American comedian Pete Davidson

Mark Duffield did a really good interview with Darryl Panizza about Peter this morning I think you’d enjoy

Haven’t been able to find a link for it yet but it’s on the SEN app

Davidson is officially #11 in records from 1987 but vision of him in the Richmond game has him in the #9, as does this clip the club has just put up.

My theory is that they initially reserved 11 for Buckenara, then when it was confirmed he couldn’t get out of Hawthorn Davidson decided to switch. Glenn O’Loughlin presumably then took 9. He was a late addition to the squad so that would make sense.

I’ll see what I can dig up from the round 3 game vs Sydney, Davidson’s only other game.

I’m sure everyone will wait with bated breath to see what I come up with.
