I'm not too worried about Foley, I can't see Richmond subbing him off every week, he'll be fine. Having Gibbs as my VC has worked nicely though. Obviously missing out on Curnow isn't good, but you can't have all of them!

After a limited pre season, I'll take 74 from Deledio, it isn't horrendous.

Hardwick says Foley had gastro all week and couldn't go on during the match.

He said he 'made a blue' and shouldn't have selected him ... ****ing moron.

Well, at least we know in normal circumstances, he wouldn't be subbed off and wasn't playing to his full capacity anyway.

Damn it! Ah well, I would have brought Atley and then Yarran in anyway, so maybe a blessing in disguise.

Good point, it's always hard to have faith on the first night. McLean is still to return too, so maybe he will take Curnow's spot?

Carlton plays Gold Coast next week and should smash them. Curnow is likely to score highly again more by default than anything ... but after that their draw gets more difficult, Collingwood in round 3 too.

I still question Curnow's long-term job security. Someone has to makeway for Ellard etc.

I still think Foley was a good pick after calming down, he was supposedly off colour and still looked good at times. He will play every minute of every game he is available for and he was in scintilating pre season form. A solid 80 or 90 next week will put hm back on track for a solid price rise come round 4.

Curnow again looked so at home tonight, very annoyed i didn't keep him in but we'll see how he fares before his first price rise and make a decision on him. Probably make an early trade to get on him but it won't be the end of the world. Solid, price rising rookies are essential

Oh come now it's been said multiple times on here that getting mid pricers right is extremely difficult. So stop complaining. You picked them, now either man up and stick with them for the reasons you picked them in the first place OR accept that you didn't think things through enough. Most mid pricers that come good don't dominate the entire season in every signle round. So if you really think you had good reasoning behind your original selection then stick with it as they DO come good if you are onto the right ones.

People whinging about the sub rule however have a valid whinge.

It's pretty sad though that White was able to tag Yarran out of the game. Might make other coaches less interested in Yarran in the future though.

main beef is basically curnow.. but, like 100 other players who have burst onto the scene, only time will tell. I have Bewick and Pittard as the 2 guys that would have made way for him, so gotta see how they go.

One game in and people are blowing their lids?!! I still don't know about Curnows jobs security given Ratten said before the game that he probably wouldn't have been playing if Ellard was available for selection. One game doesn't make a season and you can't get every rookie selection correct. I was considering Yarran until Paul Roos said on the couch on Monday night that it is all very well for these players like Yarran to be carving it up in the preseason when they are being allowed to do as they please, but what happens when some work is actually put into them in the season proper, different story. Still could and probably will end up being a good selection but I'm glad I didn't jump on early. I wouldn't be too worried about Foley, Gastro all week and played just over a quarter for 24 points, doubt he will be getting subbed off when fully fit, can see him pumping out 80+ regularly meaning he will be an easy upgrade to an Ablett or Montagna come the middle of the year.

... if Foley was vomiting etc, you can't blame him for not going on. Hopefully when he's fully fit he should be ok in the mids.

DT is serious bizness. Who cares if he was puking and shitting his shorts? That's no excuse for wussing out!

Anyway, I'm glad I didn't pick Deledio, Foley or Connors... one spud (Yarran) is enough.

Also, anyone who picked Curnow, you are a lucky ****er. Had extremely dubious job security and anyone who picked him should have known better. I'm still not convinced that he's going to stay in the team with McLean and Ellard both competing for the same spot.
