The only reason we should consider grabbing guys who are 26/27 or older is:

1. They're elite, see Patrick Dangerfield; or
2. They fill an identified need and offer a clearly better option than an equivalent developing kid already on our list (ie: Luke Ball or Darren Jolly).

All of the players listed above fail to meet either of those requirements and would in fact be detrimental to the development of our kids at they'd be taking their senior spot.

At this stage, I would only consider veterans that are 27-29, not those that are 31+. If we plan to peak from 2017-18 onwards, then we need guys who can still br playing at that stage. When we are a top 4 or top 6 side, then we can get an older guy or two to just try and get us over the line - but its too early for that right now.

We have a reasonale mix and only Stevie J is worth considering. Guys like Treloar are hardly "youth" either...hes already an 80 game veteran.

I don't mind Adcock as an experienced, neat disposing small defender. I could see him in a back pocket over Maynard, or flank over Scharenberg.

Dont think we need him personally. May as well have retained Young in that case.

Future in pretty safe hands with Maynard Scharenburg Williams and the much maligned Toovey. Plus Caff who can play anywhere, given his VFL form late in the season hes not yet a writeoff. We also have plenty of inside mids who might get asked to play back at times.

I can appreciate that. We have depth there. But we do lack an experienced good disposer of the ball. All our good disposers are young. I expect to see us continue to fast track them. But I reckon Adcock would be handy and likely best 22.

There's not much need to add older players if experience is all they bring, because having that and getting games means that same experience is denied the kid they are playing ahead of.

I don't think we're like Melbourne who need experience players to come in to set standards. Reid and Brown in defence, Pendlebury, Swan, Sidebottom, Varcoe through the middle and Cloke forward are all premiership players, all over 100 games. I think they can be relied on to set standards & mentor.

So unless they are an A grader or v. cheap in a position of need they'll hurt more than help.

Fair enough, just edited my post fyi. Langdon will be entereing his third season so fast becoming a senior player. So too Scarenburg and Oxley, albeit injury limited

Yep agree. Still feel we are a little inexperienced back there. Maynard, Shaz, Marsh, Ramsay, Sinclair all fairly inexperienced. Langdon and Williams just getting there. Still happy with what we have.

How can he be potentially in our best 22 when he can't even make the Bears best 44?

I don't mind the idea of Stevie J either. He'd give our forward line teeth. And take pressure off Elliott. Stevie J, Elliott, Fas and Swan is a dangerous group of small forwards.

But why deny those development opportunities to Broomhead or Kennedy or Abbott? Surely we need to allow them senior games.

He should be. The Bears are morons. We all know that.

Checked Adcocks performances against Blair in a similar discussion on Nicks as a poster suggested he'd be a better option in that role and he doesn't even outperform our most maligned player. Irrespective of how poorly run the Bears are, think they've made the right call here.

Broomhead maybe. Abbott is not ready yet. I don't rate Kennedy, particularly forward. I feel we lack an edge forward of centre.

You could always play one of those guys ahead of Fas.

Different position but point taken.

Its always a balancing item but Stevie J has the ability to instantly improve the team for a year or two...the others dont (yet)

Stevie J, for all his moments of brilliance, has more face palm moments than just about any player in the league. Getting blind sided and run down strolling in to an open goal Against the Saints typified where he's at as a footballer.

The only one I'd consider is Adcock as our defense clearly lacks experience.
Advock could team up with cox and Goldsack
Keeps to a theme

Abbotts one of the most exciting prospects I've seen at VFL level for some time. I think only injuries stopped him this season. Look forward to him emerging in 2016.

On a more serious note, i like our list and better we keep the youth coming in and developing.
Too many older players that arnt automatically in our best 22 are better not taken
