That's a huge get for Port. Maybe this coming year things will click and we'll see signs of the finals side they were tipped as being in 2024.

Looks like it could be a decent year for the Victorian standalones. I wouldn't be surprised to see Werribee up there in the top four again after they managed to stay in premiership contention this year. My gut feeling is that Williamstown underperformed somewhat and will at least be in the top six next year, and I think Port's team will finally click and be in the finals hunt. Frankston are looking promising with a lot of key players already re-signed, but I think we need a few gaps filled if we want to go further than we did this year.

Coburg and the Bullants I think will struggle again, but I hope I'm wrong. Coburg showed signs this year that they can play well, but building on that foundation will be hard when you're not in a great position financially. Bullants I really fear for. Preston City Oval was deserted when we played up there, virtually no atmosphere and the facilities were looking quite run down. I really hope they can find a lifeline in 2025.

Willy finished top 6 this year?

I know we've moved onto 2025, but had a day off today, it rained and I got bored and reflected on 2024.

A worthy premier but was conscious of Werribee's low scoring for such a good side, and so looked through the record books.

Found their 1504 'points for' during the H&A season was the lowest by a top tier VFA / (current) VFL premiership side since Moorabbin in 1963. A long time.

Next rainy day I have a day off and get bored ill look at their measly 1067 'points against, have a feeling it will be longer.

Anyword on the Dolphins incoming ins mate?

Have heard a couple of local guys considering coming over after a good 2024 for the lads from Frankston town

My knowledge pretty much extends to whatever the club posts on social media, so the only "new" recruit so far is Bailey Lambert who's coming back to us after a year with Carlton VFL and Noble Park.

I was cautiously optimistic that our win against Gold Coast would get the attention of footballers in the region. Getting former players back is a really good sign that our culture is changing for the better and that we're becoming a destination club for the region. I think we still need some gaps filled - a main ruckman so that Angus Grant can play his normal role, another tall forward to go alongside Gown, and a tall defender - but our player retention so far has been outstanding.
