Saturday 31st August, 1.10pm at TEAC Oval, Port Melbourne
1st Qualifying Final
Geelong Cats v Port Melbourne Borough
Geelong finished top of the ladder, and although this game is at Port Melbourne's ground the Cats should win. If Geelong can get through to a VFL Preliminary Final they have plenty of qualified players to come back, such as James Kelly, if the AFL side are knocked out by then

Saturday 31st August, 2.10pm at City Oval, Box Hill
1st Elimination Final
Box Hill Hawks v Sandringham Zebras
Sadly Sandringham's form has been terrible over the last few months and only good form early enabled them to stay in the final eight. In fact, they lost 6 of the last 7 home and away games. Injuries at Melbourne haven't helped much with their depth and the Hawks should win.

Sunday 1st September, 1.10pm at TEAC Oval, Port Melbourne
2nd Qualifying Final
Werribee Tigers v Coburg Tigers
Probably the final I'm most excited about - the battle of the Tigers. Both have been in good form in the last couple of months, and tough to pick a winner in this. In fact, one team will lose for the first time in two months. Coburg hasn't lost since Round 12 when they were defeated by top of the ladder side Geelong by a point, Werribee haven't lost since Round 9 when Coburg knocked them off. I'll tip Coburg in what looks like a beauty on paper.

Sunday 1st September, 2.10pm at Point Gelibrand, Williamstown
2nd Elimination Final
Williamstown Seagullsv Murray Kangaroos
Tough game to pick as well with both finishing near each other on the ladder. In fact only the last game of the year gave Williamstown 6th spot and the home ground for the final. The Seagulls had a good win in Round 20 and I think they can continue that good form.

What exactly is the qualifying rule with the VFL ?
I've heard its at least 6 VFL games.

If so,Geelong could get about 5-6 [Bartel,Street,S,Johnson,Rahilly ]players back from last weeks senior game & lose only about 3 players from last weeks VFL side [Sanderson,Sholl,Kilpatrick]

Yeah, it's 6 VFL games.

Box Hill should beat the Zebras - we were superb last week against Murray with just 7 'Hawthorn' players, and we should get Mark Williams and Tim Clarke back this week.

Werribee v Coburg should be a cracking match. I'm hoping both teams belt the living suitcase out of one another because if we win we have to play the loser!

Anyway, heading down to City Oval on Saturday, really looking forward to a home final. Box Hill ressies are playing Sandy ressies in a knockout final as well, so it's a big day for the Mustangs.

Should be a good crowd too, quite a large conginent of the Hawk HQ crowd will be there.

sorry to say but I gotta agree with ya. Lachy Jocky Oakley's suspended, Cameron Templeton looks unlikely to play and skipper Heath Tregear also probably won't play... three of our best players. Will need good games from Ed Wilson, Andy Treloar, Chad Liddell and of course the great Adam Coghlan if Sandy want finals past this weekend.

Anyway I'll be there from 11.30 onwards, GO THE ZEBRAS!

I can't believe that we're playing at Port Melbourne, when we finished OUTRIGHT on top of the ladder. Where is the HOME game advantage?? SKILLED STAIUM is easily better than the Port Melbourne oval. But we're easily the best team in the league, and I reckon - although Port Melbourne are very good - that Geelong will easily win!!:)

Best of luck to all other worthy finalists!!:)

There are no home ground entitlements for finals in the VFL. The three weeks of finals are played out of Port Melbourne as they are televised on the ABC. It's only the first week where there are games played away from Port Melbourne due to there being 4 senior games played in the first week. The VFL choose what they believe to be the best grounds for the games.

Tips
Geelong v Port Melbourne
Werribee v Coburg
Box Hill v Sandringham
Williamstown v Murray Kangaroos

Well been some close results and upsets.

Obviously I'm shattered about yesterday, another final quarter fade out. We only had 6 Hawthorn players with the late withdrawal of Clarke and the lack of experience hurt us at the end.

The game itself was pretty boring, saved only by a close finish.

The reserves on the other hand was an absolute corker, including 5 goals in 7 minutes by Chris Murphy (all good goals too!) and 6 goals by a ring-in from Croydon because Box Hill were so short on numbers!

Werribee-Coburg was a good game today. Not surprised to see that dog Churchill hitting someone late again.
