Garths first half was very good and he did run out of puff in the second half , but he seemed to have got his mojo back this game . He's tracking nicely.
Personally I disagree with Morris staying on unless he wants to do it as it's a big come down for him to constantly play at the second level without any hope of progressing. Yes his courage and aggression was supreme today , but his skills are still atrocious.
Chol was horrid again apart from two good marks and is a liability at this stage of the season. I still think we had one tall too many and Silverstein must play. The cool dude Jess in the interchange said they're hiding Derek Smith for bigger and better things , but did hint that he may get a gig . Stengle and Bolton made me very excited again and are two classy individuals and yet again proved my point of going too heavy with dinosaurs in the forward line is unnecessary in the modern era. Stand out tall of the day was Moore again with his contested marking at both ends of the ground. Conca appeared to have copped a bad gash to his left leg early and wasn't going on all cylinders for the day. Lennon's shoulder was a mess and felt sorry for him when he ran back on the ground to test it out.
Batchelor played like a pauper who won 1000 at the casino and thought he was a millionaire. Really made some poor attempts to spoil or mark easy balls. Started their third quarte run with an undisciplined one hand attempt to mark. He'd be lucky to get us a pick around 80. Miles also looked injured late , but played well as usual. Second rounder easily for him based on what clubs were splashing around last year. Bro reckons Lennon will stay considering he's young and weve invested so much into him , plus there are Elton Morris Morris Hunt Miles and Batchelor ready to go first. So possibly two more years of him on a pittance much to my disgust. Ellis is showing better signs in the drier conditions, but his motor is still putting slowly. Needs to work harder in the preseason. Lloyd needs to stay another year as he has some serious tools and is actually quality depth. I was impressed with
Markov and Short. Short gave us so much run and drive and was a class above. Hampson and Soldo pottered around all day doing some good things , but Spencer best them on the day.
Menadue was in and out doing one good thing for one bad thing.
Still not physically strong enough around the contests and missing tackles , but has improved on where he was last year. As you say we have a good list to work with and a few tweaks need to be made.
Great summery TI, agree Morro doesn't win a lot of ball but his impact on a game around the ground is huge at vfl level, AS for the ''team'' aspect of winning finals or possibly a flag? that's why we all play this great game, we have to 'Harness' this if we can, don't throw it away and use his experience for the youth coming through. The whole 'backline'' should be commended on the way they held firm under the weight of so many 'centre' clearances that came at them all day!! inside 50s for casey will be interesting to find out? enjoy the ride TI i know i and 1oo's of thousands of others are, cheers bud.

Very lucky we are so fit, although we were smashed through the start and middle of the season with injuries.
We hardly had an injury in our flag years. And Box Hill was usually deep in VFL finals. You guys are in a great spot. Box Hill will have around 12 AFL listed players available this week.

Gidday RT, [would love your insight] if the huge crowd react to a come from behind ''punch and spoil'' from a back man, as they always do[rance][shaw][mcgovern] for instance, like kicking a set shot goal from 30m 'say'. When in this modern day of 'stats' will back men be rewarded for this great 'spectacle' of stopping a certain goal? we talk about evening the game out and trying to pay 'creedence' to all on the ground, not just the on ballers that get first touch and win all awards. six, eight or ten punches added to a backmans stats would more 'assess' his contribution on a game, would it not, cheers.

The game plan is the same in the 2's as the 1s so I'm surprised we have gone into two finals so tall. Hampson and Soldo give nothing at ground level or up forward. The fact that we have had poor 2nd half in both finals probably due to being too top heavy.
Great to hear about Moore.
Soldo and Hsmmer were at least serviceable in comparison to Griff and Chol. They've been shocking for three weeks now.

Firstly as if the club is going to wreck their reputation by cutting a young kid the year he does his ACL. Good luck convincing player managers and players that they should come to your club after that.

Secondly it would also be totally opposite to the values Dimma and the football department have built over a number of years. It's why we are now successful. There is an enourmous amount of care throughout the club and playing group.

Thirdly if you look at the rules you would have to pay Drummond 200% of his last contract so you are effectively paying him for 2 years anyway.

Lastly the kid can play.

So both from ethical and logical grounds why would you do it?

You wouldn't.

lennon has essentially shown more and is more valauable

lennon gets cut ahead of drummond, who are the same age, just cause drummond has as injury? sounds strange

I'm not sure people are really sure on why our senior side are playing such good footy....

Castanga isn't judged on his performance in the side by how many touches he has or how many goals he kicks. Try and think of him as equivalent to tagger going back a few years ago. There is 0% chance he will be dropped. His pressure work in defence is worth more to us then another 5-6 possessions

Fridays paper David King said of George and Butler, "they have pace to burn, but use it predominantly to defend rather than the generally excepted one-way-run" Georges pressure was outstanding Friday night and he even took a cracker of a contested mark that he converted for goal. Dimma even said early in the week the small forward trio was locked in.
So my take from King and Dimma is the disposal column isn't as important with the three smalls as the pressure point ratings.

I know the club themselves keep stats for spoils as does the AFL which get distributed to the clubs and are available to the public as well. The VFL stats unfortunately don't include these stats in the basic stats that are available to the public.

yes...vague memory of richmond winning 4 premierships in the one year...cannot recall the year./details...

Yep 1973

Seniors, Reserves, U19 and U17 all won premierships.

Mark my words - CEllis will be one of our most important players in the seniors in a couple of years. Jet.
