News from Premier Cricket Land.

Peter Roach has been sacked from Hawthorn-Monash after applying for the coaching role. He got turned down. Apparnetly 10-15 players were going to walk out of the club if Roach wasn't axed. Rumour has it he has applied for the coching role at Fitzroy Doncaster.

Simon Dart will captain Hawthorn-Monash for the upcoming season.

Can Roach still coach a Premier Club when still contracted to Cricket Victoria ?

I never knew of the rift at Hawthorn/Monash Uni, from what had read a few years ago Roach was a respected figure at that particular club.

what a bad year for Roach. Had a first class average of about 35 and was the number one Victorian keeper, then he made a run of bad scores this season, followed by being dropped. Now he won't even play for Hawthorn.

that a shame, but I guess Chuck Berry Fans will be happy about what is happening to Peter Roach after what happened to Berry in the mid 1990's

Once again Michael Klinger hit the most runs in premier cricket for St Kilda. I hope he gets a go playing for Victoria next year.

I hope Klinger is rewarded for his last few consistant seasons in Premier Cricket for St Kilda. He has played a few state 2nds games, but needs to perform more in these. However, he should hopefully get a few Pura Cup games based on weight of runs over recent season for his club.

good to see Wolfe leaving footscrary to come and coach me :D
hes got the altona VSDCA job
the dogs have picked up there new coach carnt remember his name but he was the chairman of selectors for the vics

kevin lowe (northcote) is captain/coach of preston next season and may be joined by a few south melbourne players

Darren Berry has been appointed coach of Carlton. He apparently knocked back the Tasmania position has he wanted to stay in Melbourne and contiune to work in the medi.

Maybe one day he will coach Victoria. I can see it happening in the future

timmy welsford has gone to carlton? not a bad pick up that

also sad to see roachy sacked from hawthorn, hopefully we will still see him in premier cricket this coming season

From Premier Website North Melbourne News page dated 16/6

North Melbourne Cricket Club have announced the appointment of Rex Bennett as Senior Cricket Coach. Stepping up from his role as bowling coach in 2004/2005, we believe with Rex's experience and depth of cricket knowledge North Melbourne will have an excellent basis on which to excel in season 2005/2006.

Rex will be assisted by Steve Atkins as Specialist Batting Coach. Steve brings with him a wealth of experience having been involved with Premier Cricket over the past fifteen years.

We wish Rex and Steve the best for the up and coming season.

Steve Atkins is one weird fellow, but a good batting coach. We had him at Frankston, and he was good but you had to sit there for about 10 mins and realise what exactly he just said.
