In the aftermath of the devastating bushfires, have people thought about doing voluntary work (or increasing voluntary work they currently do).

Where would you do it?
How much time would you commit?

Would be interesting to see if more people help out in some way in their communities/sport clubs etc as a result.

I'm a CFA volunteer and I dedicate a large portion of my spare time to the cause. This is all around my full time work. I donate blood every 12 weeks as well. I have also done work with special needs children and adults.

I am also wondering if we will see a large increase in people wanting to sign up with the CFA. However, I am sure I have read that after a major bushfire you will get a big increase in young people wanting to sign up. Unfortunley, after 12-24 months, a lot of those people drop out due to the commitments of juggling CFA and managing work/study/family/friends/life.

Myself - I prefer to volunteer than say giving away money to charities. I get something great on my resume, I am active in the community and I get to meet a bunch of great people. With donating money to charities (i.e world vision) I am not sure exactly how much of my money is going to the cause.
