I voted for George and so'd my wife.

Snowden was all for extending Donuts in August 2023 so definitely needs to go and Fitridge might be a great guy and a passionate supporter but the last thing we need on the board is another accountant.

From the limited knowledge I have, it feels like we would be better with Snowdon AND Fiacchi, and being rid of ourselves one of the others.
It might still happen if Snowdon gets voted off the board.

They have never replaced Darren Cahill's position after he resigned in September 2022.

I believe they were going to appoint an ex sportswoman to the position, but have never done it. Don't know if the person they had lined up, has become unavailable.

If you have a question for George he has agreed to answer a few if I collate them for him. So let me know what you want to ask and he will do his best.

Bear in mind questions like "will you sack Ken" no director can answer directly as they don't have full control and won't want to speak as an individual on a board matter.

My three questions.

1. George, the current board has overseen an unprecedented run of years without premiership success for the PAFC. Do you think there should be term limits on ALL board members, so that fresh ideas and scrutiny keep everyone focused on the core goal - winning Premierships?

2. Several at the club have stated more Member voted positions would lead to a board of ex-footballers. Given most of the recent AFL premierships have been won by clubs with member voted boards, that aren't all ex-footballers, how much of the board do you think should be Member elected? And as a follow-up do you agree with those at the club, that Port fans are that naïve, that we'd only vote for ex-footballers on the board?

3. Accountability is something Port was famous for. The players and coach facing the fans after the game. Lately those of us calling for accountability have been called 'White Noise' by multiple people at the club. Do you still feel fan accountability has it's place in the AFL, or is it something we should consign to history and accept anything the club does, whether we feel it's best for the club or not?

This has unfortunately become a self fulfilling prophecy. Koch is on the record as saying ex players can only join the board via the member elections. So outside the two member elected positions, the board will always lack football experience. Members identify this and seek to correct this by voting in ex players. This then supports Koch's claims that you can't have a member elected board because members will just vote in ex players.

Tara Page?

Appointed Sept 2023
No, she replaced Christine Zeitz who resigned the Monday after we lost the showdown in April 2023.

There are those there at the club, who'd be aware BigFooty got a lot of people voting for Tredrea, who normally don't bother voting. Given the boys club obviously don't want George rocking the boat, they'd be aware, or soon be aware of this thread. From previous attempts to protect their cosy situation, I wonder how long before we see their lackey's in the media trying to drag his name through the mud?

That's when Tim Ginever will need to step in. Let's hope George has a lot of support from previous Magpie & Power players.

Quality questions

Fitridge
Pros: young, keen, "one of us"
Cons: young, keen, "one of us"

Fiacchi
Pros: football focus, experienced in business and football, charismatic and engaged, knows the old Port expectations
Cons: had his time, potential to disrupt and fragment the board (depending on your angle, this could also be a pro), egotist with own agenda

Snowdon
Pros: has overseen a highly consistent football program, experienced in business and football, AFL experience outside of PAFC
Cons: didn't have the balls to end Hinkley's contract in 2022, recommended contract extension in 2023, leaks like a sieve, hasn't really done much except stick with the status quo

Clear winner in GF.
