The WACA WHACK is an exciting new cricket league based in Western Australia, comprising of 10 brand new teams. This new short form league heats up the summer in the West, from the city to the coast. The WACA WHACK will provide Western Australians and cricket lovers entertainment on a level never seen before in the State. Since the 1940’s, the State’s dominance has been undeniable. The time has come to start the West’s own league in prime time for all cricket fans to enjoy. Lighting up Friday and Sunday nights are the big derbies along with finals played at Perth Stadium. The WACA WHACK is aiming to be the premier T20 league in the country contracting the best cricketers from around Australia and the world. Cricket in the West will be scorching this summer.

Here’s a preview of the team’s cap details to see who you want to barrack for this summer.

Albany Arsenal come into the league playing out of Centennial Park. Wearing Teal, Navy and White Shirt, Teal Pants and Navy Pads, the Arsenal are ready to fire on all cylinders.

Bunbury will be playing in Ochre and Cobalt, Ochre Pants with Cobalt Pads in the inaugural season. The Blades are ready to cut a swathe through the opposition in front their fans at JE Hands Oval.

Wearing Silver, Maroon and Black, Silver Pants with Black Pads, Cannington will train at Coker Park while playing home games at the WACA Ground. The Claymores represent the south of the river.

Of course Fremantle has a team in the league, the Merlions will be wearing Royal and Red this season and plying their trade at Fremantle Oval.

Geraldton are wearing Green and Gold in the debut season. The Tons will play their home games at Wonthella Oval hoping the whole of Gera get behind the Tonners.

Rushton Park lights up this summer hosting the Dynamos. Mandurah will wear Black and Sky Blue, Sky Blue Pants and Black Pads.

The founding of the City of Perth in 1829 is honoured in the naming of the 29ers. Adorned in Navy, Orange and Yellow fans will be filling the WACA Ground to watch the Niners play.

Rockingham wear the Gold fleur-de-lys on a halved Purple and Navy shirt, Purple Pants and Navy Pads. The Corsairs will have the town rocking at Lark Hill.

Resplendent in Maroon and Gold, Subiaco get the chance to show the league their capabilities. Playing at their traditional home of Subiaco Oval, the Sabres want to put the opposition to the sword this season.

West Perth want to swoop on their rivals this season. The Redhawks will play their home games at Arena Joondalup while wearing a Black kit with a Cobalt and Red Sash and Cobalt Pads.

The league put the call out for submissions for 10 teams, 14 interested parties came back to the executive with their applications. Here are the 4 bids that missed out:

Busselton were to wear Spectrum Blue and Silver. Sir Stuart Bovell Park would have hosted the Barracudas.

Another team to miss out is the Fremantle- based Capo D’Orlando. The Crusaders were to wear Red, White and Gunmetal and play at East Fremantle Oval.

Unfortunately the Big K missed a spot in the league. Playing at Sir Richard Moore Oval, the Crickets were to wear Steel Grey and Electric Green. If expansion is ever on the agenda Kalgoorlie are definitely in the mix.

A tough call to leave Swan Districts out, the Centurions had one of the better bids playing out of Lilac Hill. Wearing Black, White, Silver and Gold, Swans had hoped to give the competition a massive hit for six.
