Well, sorry folks, dragged myself out of the sick bed, but I will retreat there very quickly, for this one. I should follow protocol and do the first game of the round first, but I'm excited about the Freo derby. I finally get to initiate my boys to the traditional, knock em down and drag them out derby.

South Freo v East Freo - Monday. I will never forget a derby final I attended at Subi in the 80's where one East Freo granny started laying into a South Freo granny with her sharks brolly, and got a serving back. Everyone stepped back a pace or two to let them at it. Priceless. Ahh, those were the days.
Anyway back to now. Loads of AFL listed players in this one and East Freo seem to be hitting a bit of form. Both have reasonable running divisions, so will it come down to whose bigger fellows are better. Leaning towards Souths in this one.

Peel v Perth - Perth will be desperate to maintain good contact with a top 2 position by not letting this one slip. Butler being rested looks a big out. Peel were ordinary for 3 and a bit quarters last week but if they put it together then watch out. Ballantyne is in fantastic form and looks hard to stop at this level. Perth just, for mine.

Claremont v Subi - well I don't think I can build this one up too much, Subi easily. Although Claremont have gotten the closest to Subi this year, I believe. Thomson needs to lift his form again, Richardson will have to kick a bag, Ruck will have to, well you know what, out of his skin and Mackenzie will need to continue his fine vein of form for the Tiges to have any chance.

East Perth v West Perth - looks to be an easy one for the Falcons with the ins they have. Lecras in and maintaining Seaby looks to tip the balance in the Falcons favour.

Everyone have a good long weekend and hope the WAFL gets good crowds again.:thumbsu:

peel back @ Rushton will be alot more competitive....they also know they need a win here to stay in touch with top 4 as a loss and its practically season over in terms if playing finals footy for the first time...Should be a good game but i think we can win :)

I agree, providing Arrowsmith is played in the middle, especially if wet again. He is not a forward, from what I have seen, particularly in wet weather.

South Fremantle got up quite easily against Easts I am told. Did anyone go to the game ?

If so, did you see how Callum Wilson went ? #18 if memory serves me correct.

CARNTHEEAGLES !

Now, will some of you Fremantle folk explain to me where has all the hatred gone between these 2 traditional foes? I mean, it's like would you like some more tea and scones sir/madam! I get more hatred when Swans play Souths. I was incredibly disappointed!

But I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd. Terraces fairly full, stands reasonably full, 1 whole quarter to stand in queue and buy icecream, so there must have been a good crowd.

Pretty good game, as a spectacle. Was really surprised to see East Freo in front at half time but they had quite a few less shots and their accuracy kept them in it. South Freo had too much run in their legs and ran the game out better with McGrath doing some nice things at important times in the game. O'Keefe also looks a real find, the Vic boy impressed me against Swans and was pretty good again today. Funny that most of the AFL guys were not really standing out today, except Murphy with his 6 (but he still didn't impress me that much) and Graham with his mountain of possession. Kyle Hams took a couple of screamers and I don't now how he didn't at least get rookie listed a couple of years ago.

Did you see how Callum Wilson went mate ?

Yeah, sorry carntheeagles. He was not that noticable, as was much of South's team. They have a job and do it, although he did take a courageous mark in the last for a goal. Normally I can't help but notice Josh Head, but he wasn't that noticeable today either.

Far from an easy win, Easts were persistent all day. Easts led at half time and it was only a 5 goal burst late in the third term which finally gave South some breathing room. Even then we kicked out to about 40 odd points early in the last only for Easts to again rally and get the margin back to 3 goals. South again steadied though and kicked a few goals on end to push the margin back out to 30 points.

It was far from an easy win though, and credit to the Sharks for pushing us all day.

Wilson did ok down back and looked dangerous up forward as well. Almost crumbed a good goal in the third only for it to hit the post. Kicked another great goal in the third after a free kick was paid to a team mate only for the ump to bring back advantage and the kick to be scrubbed.

Wilson played ok without dominating
