Round Two proved to be a bit of a tough one with a number of upsets occurring which played a bit of havoc with the tips this week. A score of three proved to be the best score of the round and was achieved by a number of tipsters while getgaff claimed the bonus point this week.

With two rounds completed, andana leads with a score of seven while AsterixTheGaul and Freezin tied for second place with six points.

Round Three Fixtures

East Fremantle vs East Perth at Purcher International Oval, Northampton (1:30pm)
Subiaco vs West Perth at Leederville Oval (2:10pm)
South Fremantle vs Claremont at Fremantle Community Bank Oval (2:10pm, margin)
West Coast Eagles vs Peel Thunder at Mineral Resources Park (2:10pm)
Perth vs Swan Districts at Mineral Resources Park (5:10pm)

We move onto Round Three with a full round of five games this week with all games to be played on Saturday. There's another twilight game this week, a trip to Northampton and a double header at Mineral Resources Park!

First up for Round Three sees East Fremantle take their home game against East Perth to Purcher International Oval in Northampton, part of Western Australia's Mid-West region and the home of a number of AFL footballers including Josh J Kennedy, Harry Taylor, Paul Hasleby and Patrick and Jamie Cripps. The Sharks were outplayed by Swan Districts in the first half of their Round Two game last week, trailing by 26 points at half time with Swans full of run in the opening two terms. Old Easts, however turned the tables in the second half, keeping Swans goalless in the third term while kicking two themselves before a six goal to two last term including two late goals well into time-on saw the Sharks home by nine points. East Perth were impressive in their last start, outplaying Perth in what was a very good performance away from home. The Royals started strongly and never relented, leading at every change and extending their lead at each break to register a big 81 point win with the Royals perhaps now starting to hit their straps after ending their former AFL alignment a few years ago. I think this game is going to be a pretty good match between two up and coming sides and hopefully they'll put on a show for the Northampton crowd on Saturday.

Subiaco host West Perth at Leederville in the first of three 2:10pm games on Saturday afternoon. Subiaco started well against Claremont last week but let the Tigers back into game during the second quarter before the Lions' western suburbs rivals pressed on in the second half to hand Subiaco their second defeat of the season to leave the Lions at 0-2, something that hasn't happened for close to a decade. The Lions take on a West Perth outfit who claimed a hard fought win over Peel Thunder in Mandurah last week. The Falcons started very quickly, swooping to almost a six goal lead at quarter time before the Thunder reeled in the Falcons before hitting the lead midway through the third term. West Perth steadied though and regained the lead soon after which they held for the remainder of the contest and eventually sealed an 11 point win. I expect another close fought game here with both sides having something to prove early in the season.

Next up is the AFL alignment derby between West Coast Eagles and Peel Thunder in the first of two games at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday. West Coast Eagles faced South Fremantle last week and started okay with Souths only having a one goal lead at the opening break. However, things did not go to plan from there for the Eagles' reserves with the Bulldogs kicking eight of the next 12 goals and then six goals to none in the last term to hand the Eagles' WAFL side a 76 point defeat and slipping the the foot of the ladder. Peel Thunder meanwhile started very slowly against West Perth, trailing by 35 points at half time after being swamped early in the contest. The Thunder fought back hard though and found themselves in the lead for a brief period in the third term before another tussle took place in the remaining part of the game. The Thunder got to within a goal late but fell short in the end by 11 points. The Eagles should regain a few more players to the Reserves' side this week and will be looking for a win while Peel Thunder will be keen to atone for their narrow defeat to the Falcons on Sunday.

The second game at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday is the match between Perth and Swan Districts at 5:10pm. Perth had a day to forget against East Perth last week, having been comprehensively beaten in just about every aspect of the game aside from tackles although that would be expected as they had more than 50 less disposals than the Royals. In the end, it was a bad day for the Demons as they fell to an 81 point defeat with their percentage falling to just 58.42% after their opening two games. Swan Districts had all the running early against East Fremantle last week and raced to a 26 point lead at half time but the Swans stopped in the second half as East Fremantle charged home with two late goals to hand Swans a nine point defeat after leading virtually all day. Both clubs enter this match looking for victory with Perth looking to turn things around from last week's big defeat while Swans are chasing their first win of the season.

Unfortunately there is no TV game this week which is due to the delayed AFL telecast so I have chosen this week's margin game as the match between South Fremantle and Claremont at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Souths recorded a big win last week, accounting for the West Coast Eagles' WAFL team by 76 points in what was a strong display by the Bulldogs and they come up against rival Claremont who had a very good win over Subiaco having made 14 changes to their Round One side due to the effects of COVID-19 which included eight debutants. The Tigers did start slow against the Lions but fought back in the second term before a good second half saw them record back-to-back wins to start season 2022. Both these clubs have played some great games in recent times and this one shapes up to be another such game this weekend with bouncedown at 2:10pm.

There's quite a big of movement in the Reserves and Colts this week. In the Reserves, there are two matches at 11:40am on Saturday with South Fremantle taking on Claremont while Perth host Swan Districts. Subiaco play against West Perth later in the day in a twilight fixture at 5:10pm. On Sunday, East Fremantle battle East Perth at New Choice Homes Park from 11:50am. In the Colts, there are three games on Saturday morning all at 9:15am with Subiaco taking on West Perth, South Fremantle locking horns with Claremont while Perth face up to Swan Districts. On Sunday, East Fremantle play against East Perth at New Choice Homes Park at 2:15pm.

The weather is not too great at the present time with showers falling currently and are forecast to continue for the next couple of days. However, the weekend is looking fantastic for football with Saturday set to be sunny with a maximum temperature of 23 degrees for the last day of April.

Two rounds have been run and won with Round Three shaping up to be a good one with several pretty good games on the horizon. There's a few clubs looking to get their first win of the season while three others will be hoping to stay undefeated with the remainder looking to break into or stay in the top five. Happy tipping!!
