If he gets a week for that it will be proof that the MRP is rigged. He will be able to use the David Hille defence in that he set himself to take a mark & then realised he wasn't going to be able to take the mark & therefore turned his body mid-air to minimise the contact. Ultimately his hip hit Bate, not his arm, elbow or fist.

I might add that Waite's hip actually made contact with Bate's shoulder, and not his head. I don't what Waite was supposed to do when he is in the air trying to mark the ball. It was a legitimate marking effort, and the MRP should throw it out on Monday afternoon.

Was it Vozzo wao made the report if it was this guy is a FLOG as an umpire. Should not have been reported was in a marking contest and IS incidental contact. If waite gets suspended Carlton should fight it big time. Should be thrown out and the umpire given two weeks sabatical for making the report.

Waite was air-borne, flying for a mark when the Melbourne guy decided to back into the contest. Not sure how on Earth Waite could avoid making contact. Perhaps the Dees guys should be charged with tunneling? If Waite gets suspended for that, the MRP should be put under review.

I agree. Jarrad has to realize that he has become a target to the umpires. If he does anything even remotely close to illegal then he's going to be reported for it. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. He needs to keep his mouth shut.

Love the enthusiasm but he needs to learn to temper it a little before it's too late and he's driven out of the game.

not just reported but 50/50 decisions will go against him. It all equals the same - team suffers for it. Poor discipline

Disagree on this instance. Did nothing wrong. Jumped for the footy completely unaware a Demon would be dropping in from the side.

Yeah the umpires were poor and he won't get suspended but the guy that reports him doesn't have the benefit of replays, different angles, slow motion etc, all he sees is late contact from behind after a mark and a bloke laying on the ground. Waite should get off no worries but I can see why the report was made.

Was going for the mark, in the air ready for a chest mark, ball dropped short to Bate, so waite had no option but to make contact as he was alreayd airborne.

Should not have been reported and should not have been given 50m, it was a contested mark and that was it!!

Umpires were crap in the game against Melbourne!!

If Waite gets done the rules committee will have to come up with something like:
The guy running back with the flight must be protected at all costs, and anyone leading up to the ball must pull out of a marking contest should their decision to contest the ball put another player in harms way.

I'd also be calling for a Royal commission to look into the phone log and bank account details of D Hille and the match review panel.

Waite led for the footy. He jumped early to take the mark which he often does. The Dees player came back with the flight of the ball and got collected in the process. The only thing that made it look bad was Waite turned his body slightly to soften the impact.

Free kick yes..........but only just yes.
Shouldn't even get a reprimand from the MRP.
