Walker's big year

AWG

As you would know being a passionate blue
"BIG THINGS" atm prob means everything but finals

kids can come on, find someone to hold down FB, win some respect back from the footy world.

so i think it is possible and is going to happen because if it doesn't we will hit a place beyond rock bottom and it would be hard to see the club justify it's existence to us the fans and the rest of the comp.

i really don't care about win/loss or ladder possition it's just time that we start looking like we want to be successful and prove to the footy world that we will be a dominant unit in years to come.

Given that we are all getting pretty excited about what is to come in the next couple of years with all the young potential stars we now have at the club, what should we be aiming to achieve next year?

I've been thinking about that, and I reckon 10 wins. Had we been better at finishing off games last season, we would've had 8-10 wins anyway, including a win against West Coast at Subi. 10 wins. -Avoid the bottom 4, and set ourselves up for finals action in 2008.

Anything less and Denis will be fired.

We are witenessing something special at Carlton. Our young players have talent, determination, a growing self-belief and are desperate to succeed. Walker, Setanta, Bower, Gibbs, Murph, Simmo, Russell, Kennedy, Waite, Fisher, Jackson, Edwards, Hartlett, Blackwell, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on. The more I learn about the new recruits the more I realise that Hughes has delivered a masterstroke. Our list deadwood has virtually been eliminated. I can only see a very successful future now. :)

Parrot add to that Thornton, Hampson, Grigg, Austin, Benjamin, Anderson as well. Now I know that not all these guys are going to be super player but its a very good nucleus. That's 26 blokes all under that age of 23. WOW.

Walker is still on 20 remember, he is still a baby with so much upside its not funny and he has already been in the system for 4 years.

The boys in the age group:
17 - Austin & Gibbs
18 - Anderson (in 22 days), Benjamin, Bower, Edwards, Grigg & Hampson
19 - Flint, Jackson, Kennedy, Murphy & Raso
20 - Betts, Blackwell, Hartlett, Russell & Walker
21 - Aisake O'hAilpin & Bentick
22 - Fisher & Simpson
23 - Carrazzo, Setanta O'hAilpin, Thornton & Waite
24 - Ackland, Bannister, Houlihan, McLaren, Wiggins
25 - Fevola & Teague
26 - Scotland & Stevens
27 - Saddington & Whitnall
28 -
29 -
30 - Lappin
31 -
32 -
33 - Koutafidies

I think very exciting times ahead. In reality if we win 6 - 8 games this year we have done extremely well and would be absolutely wrapped. I wouldn't mind finishing between 15-12 this year to get a few more high draft picks to fully rebuild our list though.

Go Blues, A POWER FOR MANY YEARS TO COME.

Cheers

Hadn't looked at this list like that before. Talk about a very young and exciting list!

I dont want to post anything rude, but i'm mighty excited about our team...

Goosebumps!!!

AWG, in all honesty, you've been excited ever since you started here on BF. God help the lot of us when we actually start winning some games on a consistent basis. :p

Haha very true HBF!! I guess that is part of the reason i joined BF, because i was excited about the players we now have at the club, and just wanted to chat to other people. Like Heff said to me, it's great to get some excitement back about the club.

And dont worry HBF, when we start winning some games, i wont be the only one on here smiling ear to ear !:)

Can someone tell me the date of Rn.1 vs Richmond, so i can look into flights/tickets?
cheers.

Thats a really interesting list. Players tend to start to show something between 21-24, and peak between 24-28 (ie Simpson was decent for the first time last 2 years ago, better last year, and probably peaking from this year for the next 5 or so). We don't have a lot of talent in the 'starting to show something' group right now, so we're probably still 2 years away from really improving.

But in 2 years time, the improvement will be rapid - we'll have about 10 guys still in the absolute peak of their career (24-28), and about 15-20 (depending on drafting before then) in that 'really starting to get moving' stage.

Bring on 2009 is all I can say!
