don't just blame the afl, each club makes a truckload off the 2000 or so tickets they are given. they throw in a breakfast function and charge $1300. Official scalping if you will.
It f***ing sucks to see the true supporters of the competing clubs desperate to see their club live in the grand final whilst the AFL would rather cater for about 50,000 corporates who will be taking their wives and mistresses along and won't even know who is playing or why the ball isn't white and roundIt's total bullshit. The preliminary finals are the last true supporters game of the season. the new motto of the AFL should be something along the lines of "Dollars before supporters"

lol @ some of these storys, if you were a real fan you would pay anything, i know when richmond make it ill probaly just buy a guaranteed ticket package.
Althoe for a richmond supporter it could be once in a lifetime event

Tip for you all looking for tickets.
Ring the ticketing agency (sorry cant remember if its ticketek ot ticketmaster this year) everyday every few hours or so.
Each year hundreds (sometimes thousands, like in 2007) of tickets go unclaimed - because of reasons such as: wrong credit card numbers, credit transactions bouncing, wrong billing adresses, people unable to attend, people defraduing the system with false barcodes etc.. etc..).
For a normal match there is time to rectify these errors and put the tickets back on the market (which happens often). But for the GF, because most people buy tickets in a matter of a few days, there is no time. Usually these unclaimed tickets are passed around by ticket agency employees and their families (which happens to me EVERY year).
Obviously no guarantees, but give them a call and ask. You might get lucky! Happy hunting to you all.
