Perths batting still not sold on but it shows how important Molineux is to the Gades side......

Huge game for Perth given they have played 3 games and other teams around them playing more. And for Perth to get a home final, they need to be finishing in the Top 2. They have a nice advantage at the WACA especially with their bowling unit.

Does anyone know the size of the WBBL squads?

Bekker came into the extended squad and then final team with Molineux missing due to injury - the info from the Gades about her selection said she was an orthodox spin bowler, but we didn't use her in that role

I'm curious about the addition of Bekker because it almost seemed like a selection of convenience with her being a WA local and not actually part of our squad until yesterday

I'm also wondering what alt batting options we have available because we know Molineux is often good for a few runs, and then losing de Broughe meant a hit to the batting line-up, especially with failures by the top order - would we maybe have been better off bringing Prestwidge over as she's shown she can hit the ball on occasions

They had a squad of 13 for the WA trip.

Molineux being out was a chance to blood one of their youngsters in. Yep Prestwidge may have been a better option.

When will questions be asked of Simon Helmut?

How can Simon Helmut keeping his job after winnings 2 out of 14 games last season & finishing last ? One of the lesser cricketing brains out there & am a bit mystified as to how he still has a gig at this level.

Game 18:

Sydney Sixers Women (Playing XI): Ellyse Perry(c), Sarah Bryce(w), Amelia Kerr, Ashleigh Gardner, Hollie Armitage, Mathilda Carmichael, Maitlan Brown, Sophie Ecclestone, Caoimhe Bray, Courtney Sippel, Lauren Cheatle

Melbourne Stars Women (Playing XI): Yastika Bhatia(w), Ines McKeon, Meg Lanning, Annabel Sutherland(c), Marizanne Kapp, Deepti Sharma, Tess Flintoff, Rhys McKenna, Kim Garth, Sophie Day, Maisy Gibson

Sydney Sixers Women have won the toss and have opted to field

I know there's another game currently on but been thinking the Gades situation

I saw our squad list, but sounded like Bekka only signed with this week ahead of last night's match - she was playing Perth as part of the Spring Challenge thing. I don't understand the signing unless they didn't have enough seats on the flight & went a local option to help make up numbers

We do weird shit with selections and Bekka's last night reminded me of when we signed Holly Ferling a couple of seasons back - she played neatly every game but only bowled a handful of overs across the season, batted at 11 and was essentially being selected as a specialist fielder

As a Gades fan, I think we have too many "all-rounder" options in the team to go with primary bowling options, the balance of the team isn't right and we don't look sure how to utilise our bowling options. Last night we used only the 6 bowlers which is the first time at haven't heard 7 this season, and the first time we've bowled out a specialist bowler - so does suggest we aren't sure how to best utilise the selected team

Coyte is one I'd have somewhat in the firing line, and not just cause she seemed to lose track of what she was doing at the crease last night, but because she's having minimal impact with the ball where she's only bowling 1 or 2 overs per match & in a pretty expensive manner. She's one I think we could swap with Prestwidge, who could offer a similar option to bowl one or two overs if needed, be a lower order batting option but is 6 years younger
