I know there was a couple of dropped catches to almost bookmark the innings and Illingworth fumbled on the boundary line in the last over, but I thought overall it was one of the better fielding efforts we've seen this tournament

The early runs saved by Coyte on the boundary & the teamwork where there was two chasing down the boundary balls, turned what seemed a likely 4 into 2s instead, and wonder if that started to cause some frustration during the early to middle stages of the Stars innings

Annabel Sutherland had a mare of a game 19.

  • dropped a sitter
  • didnt utilise for the full over of Deepti Sharma
  • scored 16 off 20 when the RRR was much higher

I can excuse her for bowling Gibbons for a 3rd over as she was on a heater.

Renegades won their batting Power surge scoring 29 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Kapp needs to be bowling in 1 of those Power Surge overs going ahead. You would rather be conceding 18 for the loss of no wicket, than 29 for 1.

Renegades didnt necessarily play better, I blame the loss on Annabel Sutherland for the Stars. And I tell you one thing. If she wasnt the daughter of the CEO of Cricket Australia, she wouldnt have ever been near a cricket field. And if Will Sutherland ever represents Australia - I'll apologise to James Sutherland on social media.

The Stars as a team didn't play as a team , horrendous in the field. Sutherland is a player where captaincy and her game mingled together is going to muddle her mind. eg I refer to Mitch Marsh. I would bite the bullet if I were the Stars and immediately reinstate Meg Lanning as captain or even give to Kapp who (i think ) has captained South Africa before.

If your a Stars fan, you would be filthy and dirty with that performance. Instead , all of this will get swept under the carpet.....because its womens sport and there are other codes getting more attention at the moment.

As a counter to that point, one of the things that stood out to me in terms of the Gades in the field is that they really did seem to play as a team today and to be enjoying themselves in the field

One of those moments which really showed that team mentality was the wicket of Sharma in the last - Prestwidge takes the catch and looked ready to do the normal last over action after taking a wicket where you just go back to your fielding spot ready for the next ball. Instead, a teammate comes over to celebrate the catch and others got involved

Just seemed a real positive mentality from the Gades today, and while there's clearly room for improvement, as a fan you hope it kick starts something
