Alyssa Healy and Gardners batting have fallen off a cliff.

One of the observations from the game at North Sydney Oval today for me was the pitch was alot more greener than usual.

Sixers really are no good without their imports in Ecclestone and A Kerr. And sadly for Sixer supporters, they will be worse off when those 2 leave.

Standings after Game 26:

And the Sixers run home are team above them, 2 of those were teams they have lost to in this season already.

In those standings finishing 2nd is much more lucrative than 3rd. The home state gets 2 games in their state which will be a nice little bonus for fans of the local state.

Perth v Thunder tomorrow at the MCG for top of the table. Huge game. Loser will be 3rd , Winner will be 1st.
 
Alyssa Healy is 34 years old. She is going through a similar thing to what Virat Kohli is going. Both are pretty much 'untouchables' in their gender of their versions.

Healy reflexes even with her keeping aren't as good as they are used to be. Eye coordination, movement, reflexes, and it reflects in their batting. I also am not sure the peak age of athletes in gender.

No doubting the player Healy has been over the years, and that at one stage she was clearly the best keeper in Aus - male or female, but everything comes to an end at some stage

I know Healy was VC to Lanning, but her age was a factor that I thought could work against her in being named as the next full-time Aus captain as she is closer to the end of her career than the start

It'll be interesting to see the role she plays across the rest of the Sixers season - does she return behind the stumps or will Bryce play out the season as their keeper with Healy in the field?

Could that also lead to a change of keeper at national level if it's thought there's a better option behind the stumps - Mooney is the obvious choice, we know Redmayne's name is likely also in discussion or do they start looking at the next generation/longer term option with a player like Faltum?


We're less than 12 months from the next World Cup which will be in India next Sept/Oct - thinking we'll likely see a few changes from the squad that was selected for the recent T20 WC, I guess it's about when do we start preparing and making what could be some tough calls on players

Just for fun, my ticket wouldn't let me in and I wasn't the only one - the gates were stopping some Gades & Stars members with the machines simply saying "NO"

They only solution they had was to go to the Stars membership hub to get a paper ticket 😂 - thinking they'll be giving away a few of those today


The other thing that seems crazy to me is that the team benches are in front of the Ponsford Stand, but they've totally closed that off to the public - seems crazy as that would be the most logical place for autographs after the matches

And that just before is exactly what I complained about in last night's T20 match thread

The ball has rolled into the toblerone, player from the fielding team immediately signals a 4 (seriously, it was either what the batsmen ran or a 4) and goes the easy underarm throw back in

But the umpire stops play while we get the 3rd umpire to watch replays - the batting team wasn't going to be disadvantaged by a 4 being called, so why can't we just start trusting the players a bit more when they signal the best case score for the opposition
