Oh **** off.

Rawlings, Archer etc didn’t/haven’t do
/done much better.

Also let’s stop blaming Noble, this playing list is atrocious, it’s plain to see. What was Nobles flaw sorry? He played spuds like Turner, had a leaky defense, and was giving a spray at the players?

Well **** Clarko is playing spuds, has a leaky defense, and if he isn’t spraying the players he’s clearly checked out because the players are woeful.

Genuinely less than 5 players on the list are truly working to be the best player they can be.

That’s not on Luff or Noble, that’s on them.

Bunch of weak coasters that don’t like being told they suck even though they are the suckiest bunch of sucks to have ever sucked for this club.

A large chunk of this playing list is on their 4th senior coach, 5 if you count interims, and it’s pretty obvious it’s the list.

Woeful pack of players. Some talented ones, but they don’t have the drive. Some driven ones, but they don’t have the talent.

Just on Noble his gameplan after Paul Roos left was utter tripe, and amazingly claimed it was defensively focused. He also didn't so much bake the players as have fractured relationships with a lot of them, and it was the same in other areas of the club.

Can't understate the damage Noble did with the system, or lack thereof, that he tried to build. It's not just the list. Hawthorn's list might be in worse shape than ours but they're able to play some good footy because they've had a couple of years of continuity under a good coach who's building the system he wants, which he partially inherited from another good coach. It just takes longer to build that than what, 6 months, when the guy you're taking over from was a complete fraud who had no idea what he was doing.

that was where stuff started to go really pear shaped,
Yeah. Honestly Dusty and kelly were worth a shot. If we'd got them both we'd have been contending very soon afterward.

Pittard and Hall cost us **** all and gave us something. (If they'd left Pittard out of the leadership group he'd have been fine I reckon.) If Polec had a functioning foot he'd have done the same but they should have checked that out. He had a very good 2019 tho. None of that really mattered cos the groups standards for everything weren't high enough.

It goes deeper than Noble, etc.

The pick we gave up for Polec/Pittard should be a solid senior leader. But we have nothing (Scott/Joyce)
Nothing from the Durdin draft year (Scott/Joyce)
Chasing big fishes year after year, with nothing to show for it, when we should have been concentrating on building a strong, deep, quality list from the draft. (Scott/Joyce)

And as I have said many times before, the club is too slow in recognising the players that are average at best, but are not going to go to the next level.

Atley, JMac, Turner, Marley Williams are just 4 examples of average players, who were on the list for too long.

We have more atm : Mahoney, Perez, Lazzaro, Ford, Spicer. How much time do they get on the list before we accept, they are not going to make it ?

Why is this important? Because it one less spot you can take to the draft, to give yourself a chance of drafting a kid, who will make it.

was Mason Wood on the list for too long or not long enough?

Maybe if they lowered their expectations and targeted the lesser players that left GWS/GC they could of gotten Steele / Caddy calibre of players

Seeing Clarko go through what he’s going through I share the same opinion of a few other posters that they weren’t the problem but were part of the problem.

The club from a board, executive and football department level has been an absolute shambles and an embarrassment. Local level amateur shit.

Not good enough

Your not going to get every delisting right.

Plenty of examples of players switching clubs and their career blossoms.

It might happen to Mahoney, if we let him go.

But if after 3 years, a player hasnt shown improvement. Or is not improving. Then delist them and pick up someone new.

You take a risk.

If we had delisted Turner 4 years ago and gone to the draft, the player we drafted 4 years ago could have potentially been a senior regular now, with 50-60 games under his belt.

But Turner is a senior regular with over 100 games experience.

Turner was rightfully contracted until end of 2018. If he was delisted then we would have had 5 picks in the draft. Our last pick that year was Crocker at pick 69. I doubt very much we would have gotten a player that would have gone on to 50-60 games if drafted after Crocker.

Bit harsh on Noble. He inherited a circus of list decisions and his main error was not pulling the recruiters into line during the 2021 trade period.

By 2022 it was too late.

Based on current results I'm not sure we can really get a handle on Noble's coaching. Not sure he was going to blossom into Norm Smith but maybe he could've posted decent results had he inherited a decent, balanced list with a few competitors and leaders.

Covered it before but - check out the lists left to Laidley and Scott vs Noble.

Clarkson is showing that even um, Alastair Clarkson, can't suddenly turn this lot into anything resembling a quality team.
