Tried that, the links don't seem to work

T
That's annoying. Might have to give Google a few days to reindex.

bizzare, I did a search on google, the two threads I posted in and started actually, I could link to, the rest I got the big footy error page.

Just wondering if there is any way at the moment to de-select the 'view all images' option like there used to be.

Makes it much easier to browse at work when you don't have to load any avatars or images that get posted?

Can everyone's team fonts be bigger and have the team color instead of just black.
I use to like scrolling down fast if i was looking for a reply from someone from a particular club.
Was easier when the colors were there.

Where are the join dates for posters? It makes it easier to identify trolls

They're not currently displaying in the 'default style'.

In the 'BigSoccer' style they are where they always were (at least they are for me...).

I believe there's not currently a similar option with the new software, but there are plugins that achieve that, so it is possible it'll be introduced in future.

Alternatively, depending on which browser you use and how much control you have over it at work, you may be able to block the images via that.

Where's the search function? Member link? Advanced search?

Search puts stress on the database, so the techies have disabled it while they're tinkering with things.

Missing a recently created league thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum.

It was a fair amount of work as well.
Not all of the threads have transferred over, I believe. The BigFooty Minecraft thread's missing, as is a couple on the SFA board, and that's just a couple of boards I've been on.

I dunno, it's supposed to be faster, but on my iPhone the new forum is way slower, probably 3 times slower. It's intensely frustrating
That's because they're still messing around with the DB finalising changes. Puts a big load on the system. Once they finish and tweak the server farm, you'll notice the difference.

No idea why you moved away from vBulletin tbh. Any thread with youtube tags is eternally fornicated now too.
Because vBulletin is a mess on the back end, and terrible for managing a large site. Not a big deal for little sites with a couple of thousand members, but a massive strain on the servers for a place this big.

Fixing the youtube tags is just a matter of tweaking a bit of code, the guys will get around to that eventually I'm sure.

Probably worth waiting until the migration finishes before trouble-shooting any speed issues. Speak up if the issues persists in a few days.

I find this curious - not because I think it is inaccurate (I'm sure it's the truth), but because I would say the majority of large forums use vBulletin.

Not to mention that they should be capitalised.

I think the novelty swear filter has just about run its race now too. More annoying than anything

EDIT: Happy to put this one back on the priority list though if it means other things get fixed earlier. :) Editing posts now is awesome too! No more page reloading for quotes or edits.

Mostly because it used to be the best system going around 10yrs ago when most forums were set up. Then it got feature bloat and now it's a mess. I imagine most big forums stick with it because transferring is such a massive pain in the arse. Look at how painful this has been - and XenForo is a very, very similar software design to vB.

XenForo is very new - it's only really just become a viable alternative for big forums in the last few months. Prior to that, your alternative would have been something like Vanilla, which is even more radically different. Everyone would have had to relearn a completely new UI, on completely foreign software. That's a big risk for a site.

Sometimes it's easier to stick with what your users know, and put up with the problems. But I think you will see more and more vBulletin sites shifting to Xen as it gets more established. I've been using it on a couple of sites since it was being Beta tested, and it is a much better product.

Don't even get me started on the gay swear filter

Awful, awful addition

I can understand putting ***** over 'bad' words if need be (though I think it's pretty weak and anti-expression to do so) but turning every 'bad' word into different, unrelated word just makes things looked fornicated. And I've evaded the filter for that last word because this is an important point.
