Hello, have been a fan of b.f. for a while now. Mainly stick to blues board for the most part. Have enjoyed learning more about the C.F.C. The club I've loved all my life (I'm old enuff to remember the 80's) from the users of this site. Will hopefully contribute and engage in some blue talk throughout the coming season/s. Will also do my best to antigernize as one always should

I quite agree- you should be wary of Smurfs late at night.

Ha, yes this is true also. It seems with Papa Smurf dedicating his time to all things Carlton he's lost control of a few of the younger ones.. Papa Smurf only condones violence of the - Carlton running through opposition players type of violence.. Smurfs have since turned themselves in (to the police) I think... ;)

Ah yes, I've been enjoying the thread you're eluding to but have been a little intimidated to jump in. I'm trying to decide whether to put in the time to orginise stat resources or just end every interaction with a bitchmond supporter with "33yrs n countin bitches, the only stat I really need to know" or something of that vein..
"Yeah, probably better to use proper stats.."
"Yeah but alot of them are meaningless & used out of context.."
"Yeah but you're gonna hafta to figure out when to use them contextually speaking.."
"Geez, what am I getting myself into..."

Um if I need help (which I will) what are some reference sites u guys/girlz use?

My memory FWIW works more in the traditional sense. (not so much in the rainman stat like mold)

I remember (as eluded above) a time where Carlton played as a Team. When the team played for the Coach. Where they would put their bodies on the line for each other. I remember a time when our players would ALWAYS run to defend a fallen member of the team no matter what. There have been times over the last couple of years where a player has gone down and almost zero remonstration from team mates. I'm not saying I want to see continious melees & all in brawls etc, but I want to see something. Any sort of act that lets everyone on the field and throughout the watching world know that we, (the players of the CFC) will stand for each other. I know I'm probably harping on this point but we used to have it. To me no longer having it demonstrates a huge lack of Team orientation. As much as there have been promising signs these past few seasons, I believe the missing element is the team's desire to fight for every single player in Navy. That's not to say it is missing completely of course. Clearly this isn't the case - but it's not all there. As much as I was initially aghast with what happened to Ratts, (coincidently my joint favorite player growing up)(&the other No7:) I'm certain with Mick at the helm we'll see shepperding and general protecting of ball carriers to be up. His team focussed mantra is going to be very good for us and I'm looking fwd to seeing a Carlton that teams fear & respect. Pre Season's rollin, the pieces are being put into place. Interesting and exciting times ahead

Just to illustrate my main point a little further look to this yrs Premiers for reference.. Some have spoken on our boards about what Sydney bring to the table in regards to their list v's what their list produces. Just think how much better our team will be playing under similiar demands.. which is not to say it can be demanded per se. It's formed under it's own volition. The team has to want it. Sydney have the luxury of being able to let their team bond in relative sanctuary. At the other end of the scale I was lucky to go to a school that had a 1st 18 that was undefeated for the 3yrs I was there. They won everything against everyone. That run may've stretched to before I attended but definately ended when attendances shrank circa 90's recession. Yes the atheletes were pretty good, yes the coach was also pretty good & yes it was only schoolboy footy but the country'd send their best or we'd go to them. They'd win their comp, then h.s. comp, then knock off the best from S.A. or W.A. The team was predominantly made up of boarders with most players studying/living within close proximity to each other. (replace studying with training coz that's all they really did) They lived, breathed and ate football with each other. It made for a fairly cohesive team and one that definately played for team success. Worlds appart I know but there are similarities btw this schoolboy team, this yrs Premiers & what Carlton have to become..

This is my first real post on b.f. I know I've droned to make a simple point and will work on this but seeing's as I'm new plz go easy on me..lol

also if somone could answer the refrences question that'd b awesome. I figure I will need that at some stage henceforth..

cheers

Great start, IR. I too would like to see a bit more remonstrating when one of our blokes is unfairly/overly dealt with. Players thought twice when they knew there was someone like The Hyphen or Jimmy Buckley lurking for a bit of payback.

Give this mob a go for stats http://www.footywire.com/

You new kids, stay in school & don't take drugs.

.....and no swearing.

Welcome. :)

Hmmm, doesn't seem so appealing now.. I ganked work today, had spliff in hand and was looking fwd to launching an expletive filled tirade on someone.

Oh well, guess i'll go roundup the young uns & go on an alcohol fuelled bender at the cricket instead.. ;)

Hey guys. Thought I'd better introduce myself! I happened upon the Big Footy forums recently while feverishly Googling a Carlton fact to prove a Richmond supporter wrong :) Turns out I was right, and I found a place where my intense love of Carlton is acceptable, so-bonus!
