James Hird statement on Laurence Angwin and Karl Norman:

I was shocked by the Carlton Football Club's decision to sack Angwin and shortly thereafter delist Karl Norman.

I firmly believe the players did not deserve this finding.

They do not deserve to face their AFL careers being over.

This is a miscarriage of justice for these 2 young men.

I will not be making any further comment today. I intend to make further comment later in the week when the Essendon Football Club grant both men their next AFL playing opportunity at the age of 33 and 32 respectively.

To be fair, he did admit "Every team goes into the season hoping they will play finals" - I don't think that's so bad. Better than saying "We expect to do really badly, so at some stage we need to assess whether we will tank or not. But we won't come last, cause of the Essendon cheats and the spuds who'll replace them. For a club with 27 spoons, it's a bit of a win."

At least it will be refreshing - tbh I hope your season isnt so bad - you deserve some success even if most of the support base are deadshits. I kinda get sick and tired of reading nothing but glowing comments about players in the media. look at the draft, now look at the latest piece about your young players tracking for pre season (hint you'll see why we dont care why we dont have Baily Rice) I dont mind the occasional stab at someones kicking ability etc, but we live in a world where everyone gets a participation award for the race and there are no 1st, 2nd and 3rd ribbons. Id like a scathing review if warranted.
