So I've kept up the training since I started in July
I haven't actually lost much weight, I'm still just on 100kg, but my body composition has changed a fair amount and I've started getting comments from people who I haven't seen for a while to the jist of 'wow you are looking really healthy' etc etc - I'm not gonna lie, it feels good hearing people say that

Only just last week I found myself the night before my next session getting to bed and thinking 'oh cool I got gym in the morning', which is a thought that I never, ever, ever thought I would say to myself

I've also started eating way better, not gonna be a shill by naming them, but I started on one of those home delivery meal kits each week, and my take out consumption has plummeted - It also means I only need to go to the shops to get milk/coffee/breakfast stuff which is also a bonus

My next goal is to be able to produce a 2nd effort in a game of footy this season hahaha -

This thread popped up on on my alerts so I thought I'd revisit.

It's been about 18 months since this post and 2 years since I was 90.1kg.

I stuck to that shake diet for the full 30 days and ended up dropping to 79. I feel like it was a good kick-start to a lower calorie diet. I have slowly declined a bit more since then without anything more than being more conscious of portion size and snack frequency.

This morning I was 76.1 though that is a little heavy for me at the moment. Yesterday was my birthday so I had cake and some drinks. for the last few weeks I've been about 75.5.
I've given up the footy but still drop in occasionally for the other forums (and occasionally to poke some fun). This was back in my alerts and it's been 2 years since I posted last.

I've continued to lose weight and am pretty much the lightest I have ever been as an adult right now. This morning I was 67.8kg.

I'm so happy with what I've been able to do. I picked up 22kg of weights the other day to get a feel for how much weight I've lost, it was strange to think I was carrying that around all the time.

It's a free couch to 5 k program from the British NHS. There are others available, but cost money.

can I ask how tall you are?

90 down to 67 seems a significant loss -

I would be stoked just to get down to 90 but I am a tall bastard
I'm 188cm tall.

It is a pretty big loss for me but I don't have much muscle mass at all (starting to work on that a little now) so it was mostly fat weight.

Dear forum I have lapsed - I had a surf trip which I got fit for and felt good - it was excellent however this was followed by 6 weeks in Bali indulging every day!! Then hit Adelaide for Christmas then the school holidays - lots of fun no will power! I have started walking again with the vision of getting ready to start running again but man its hard!

Thanks for the podcast I hope to be running every morning again leading into Easter!

Bring on the footy!

Unfortunately I got very lazy again, but have been on the straight and narrow since January.

Current weight 137.8, so far I have lost almost 17 kilos in total and 7 kilos since my last post.

It's been very slow because I haven't been anywhere near as motivated as I should have been, but thankfully I am still losing and from last week I have ramped up my exercise program to get as much weight off as I can before my Singapore trip in May (hoping to shave off another 10 kilos between now and then).

17 kgs is still amazing. Keep at it my man!!!

Good to see this thread active again.

Remember reading early last year and thinking I’d been doing quite well. Had started to manage regular 10km walks by the end of 2018, also managing to cut down on portion sizes. Weight was down to 78kg from 84kg, had just ordered a Fitbit and was hitting daily 10k step goals.

Unfortunately picked up a bad ankle injury a few months into the year, and it took to around mid-year to start things going again. First real test was the annual family Grampians trip, and it seemed to go ok although I’ve noticed that over the years we’re tending to walk less, eat more and spend more time recovering in the caravan park pool.

Looking back on the last 12 months I think the Fitbit has been great at increasing and tracking incidental activity, but I also think it’s led to a false sense of security in that I can hit step targets going late night shopping but that doesn’t have the quite the same intensity. With the weather improving and there being less of smoky haze around, I intend to go on more outdoor walks. Adding swimming to the exercise regime was planned, but never ended up happened in 2019.

Weight is currently around 80-81kg, despite still eating too much crap food. Ideally should be closer to 70, although 74-75kg probably a more achievable target.

Its been a lazy 12 months - I put on a few kgs

was gonna post in the Covid thread, but it's turned into another conservative circle jerk about the BLM protests

My gym reopens on the 22nd for PT sessions and a capped number on the group classes

looking forward to it because frankly i don't know how people keep themselves working out without someone standing over you telling you to do more...

I joined a gym near work a couple of weeks ago, and have been twice last week and twice this week so far. Sticking just to cardio to start off with, with a couple of pin loaded weight machines thrown in a couple of times a week.

Starting off at 66.3kg. I’ve lost about 9.5kg this year so far, mostly due to reflux flare-ups robbing me of my appetite for periods of time.

If reflux is still a problem then try milk thistle tablets and see if they help.

did gyms not close in Adelaide?

So after hitting peak personal fitness last year in March, something which shall not be named happened and put a big giant pause on the whole fitness thing - Just lost all motivation with gyms being shut and anyone else who was in Melbourne last year can attest to the general depression that sank over the city

Anyway got back into around September with a new trainer when they allowed 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 sessions in parks - Got a sweet deal where both my housemate and I go to sessions together and the trainer only charges the same whether or not there is one or two of us there, so with it basically being half price for us both we are going 3 times a week - Eventually it would be good just to go to a gym on my own accord as it would be way cheaper, but I'm still in the mode that I know I would not do nearly as much work as I do when someone is there telling you to do more etc - plus I think there is still a bit of anxiety about the whole gym environment where I'd be worried about doing the wrong thing or looking stupid if I was in there by myself (I totally know no one would give a rats but that's anxiety, hey?)

Also just started last week the Couch to 5km thing as the gym sessions have been mostly Legs x 1 / Upper x 1 / Cardio x 1 each week, and while that's all good and feeling stronger is great, the 1 cardio session a week isn't probably enough to get rid of the belly so it's time to actually start running - which is definitely not my forte and I really don't enjoy it yet -Still just over 100kg , haven't lost much weight at all but feel way better and I'm 6'3 so probably not a huge issue but it'll be nice to drop under the century mark hopefully soon

How is everyone else going? Those in Melbourne in particular how hard have you found training over the last 12 months?

I got to my biggest ever size early in December. Don't know the weight (172cm, 100+kg) but I do know that I was at the absolute limit of 3XL shirts. Which means either purchasing 4XL for the first time or doing something to improve my health. Missus also told me I stop breathing when sleeping. I thought the waking up that I was doing was normal sleeping function. Anyway, I stopped eating crap at lunch or eating at all if I couldn't eat something decent and started walking each morning. I'm always a bit concerned as I've had compartment syndrome in both calves, corrected by surgery, but I haven't run or walked distances in the few years since the correction. I mix up a Johnson and Johnson 7 minute workout app with a basic dumbbell upper body routine after my morning walks. I've done some jogging but experienced shin pain, so got a massage guy and toned that down. Started again recently running 700m 2 oval laps at a school up the road. Did 4 laps straight on Tuesday and 5 on Thursday with no pain. I've gone from bees dick 4XL to some XL fitting nicely.

And for the record, I do know not eating lunch isn't best practice but it's better practice than scoffing a pie and chips. I've dropped alcohol consumption as well, but I'm still a serious risk for an over the top binge once per week.

Long time, first time.

I've set myself a goal of 2kg per month this year. 3.5kg down now so a bit behind the 8-ball but still trending in the right direction.
Jumped up about 5kg over Melb lockdowns which isn't ideal but manageable.
Have now cut out red meat and alcohol. Love red meat but it doesn't love me.
As of next week a retired ex-player mate of mine has hit me up to go running with him 3 times a week so this should kick-start things a bit more. Never been much of a runner so will be coming from a long way back

35yrs old things definitely don't move as quickly as in my 20s but it's definitely never too late. Keen to see how I go.

I’m surprised at 49 how quickly my breath has come back after just walking 40 minutes most days and a few jogs. It’s definitely being more cautious with shins/calves limiting my jogging than lack of oxygen. I haven’t run in over a decade and more.

After my health scare last October I have lost 10kg - not doing much (because my fitness base was very low and tied in with health issues) but food management and stopped sugar in February - blergh to no sugar coffee - seems to have helped

Put my work pants on today and didnt notice till halfway through morning that I didnt have to fight the button.

At least 15kg to go - aim for December for that

Have been doing three class sessions a week in the high altitude room with personal trainer since September. Did put over 8 kgs over Covid and still trying to get it off. Noted that my muscle mass has increased but still some work to do to get down to 90-92kgs.

From this Saturday I’m adding three Pilates sessions a week as well as want to look my best for 60th in late June in FNQ.

This is one of the high altitude sessions.

I'm about to start again after long term injury lay-off.

Starting gym 5.30 every working morning until the end of April see how I go.

Good to see others are getting started again
So bizarrely, I've been hitting the gym pretty much every work day since I posted this.

Fitter and stronger, down a belt size.

Exactly the same weight though. Can't work out what's going on
