I have no idea about Gideon, but im with you on this. These international rookie pick ups rarely work, so why not hedge our bets and get someone at least 187+

Just wondering if people think this means we are more likely to trade Nahas?? With Knights on board and Gideon most likely to start his career as a small forward (even if its 2014) he seems surplus to requirements.

Gideon has grown up playing football at least. He may be short but he has genuine football ability. He was best on ground against Tasmainia in the under 16 carnival. As for the height, he's the same size as Brent Harvey, Jarryd Blair and David Rodan.

Thanks for that. But is this a reason he can not be treated like any other footballer who has nominated for the draft, or, is this a way of saying you are handy, but not that good, but who knows in a year or two.

We signed him as a International Scholarship Holder as a 16 year old giving us exclusive rights to drafting him this year, if we wanted him. It's the same way the NSW scholarship scheme worked which landed Keiran Jack and Craig Bird to the Swans.

As an international rookie he doesn't take up a spot on our primary or rookie list and my understanding is that they're paid peanuts as well. If we or any other club drafted him in the real thing we would not be given those luxuries

and at 172 does that make him the smallest player on the list?

Yer I've seen him. He's a little gem. I went along knowing he was already signed so really only kept my eye on him and Heslin during the game. I believe he was 16 at the time playing against men. Needs to build his tank so he can stay involved as an inside midfielder. Ferocious little tackler. Just smashed a few guys. As a forward pocket he was a handful for his opponent. Has a hell of a lot of tricks. He's like Cyril in that regard but doing it at a far far lower level and didn't get anywhere near as much ball. But he does have some very good tools to make it but I believe it will be as a small forward.

At 172cm it would. Is that what he measured in at? He was that height 2 years ago.

Average. Could kick it a mile though and was just a mad man tackler like Morris (Morris still slightly ahead). Not a great feel for the game though. Would have taken a huge amount of development on his reading of the play. Was a really nice size though.

Also, on my Cyril comparison before anyone jumps down my throat it was more the style of player he is at a very poor level. Not saying he will get to that level.
