I am neither the Wookie or Crowded House, but yes, in a technical sense, it is pointless. GWS are drafting from a different pool of players to Collingwood, so whether they are ahead or behind in the order is irrelevant. It is also a bit redundant to call what the non Vic teams are doing a draft. A draft implies multiple teams selecting, but they are just picking players from a list. They can take them in any order they like, as no one else can get them in the meantime.LOL, yeah that seems right
CrowdedHouse / The_Wookie , can you confirm that the draft is pointless for the non-Victorian teams? (And also what would be the point of giving non-Victorian teams priority picks when they have can have whoever they want from their own state draft?)
However, as drama, or as a spectacle, it is better to market it as a `draft`, what else could they realistically call it?
On a side note, a GWS podcast made it pretty clear they have people nominate NSW as their draft state who are not from NSW. So women desperate to play, but nervous about whether they make the cut in their home state may be nominating for NSW.
