Should Wells be given tagging roles?, Kane Cornes was a tagger when he started in the AFL and he is now a premier onballer, it happens to other quality young players too.
I am beginning to wonder whether Laidley is slowly stuffing Wells up with his softly softly approach to Daniels development.
He gets away with too much slackness during a game, maybe the tagging role will do 3 things, prevent him from being tagged and help take him to the ball more, it will also make him more accountable.

Why not play Rocca at full back?
He is big and strong and has good pace on the lead?
So you think its a bad idea then?

Even Carey had stints at CHB.

His defensive skills are pathetic enough as it is now.A while ago,he was quite a good run down type tackler, even this seems to have disappeared from his game.Would need to change his entire game from what it is and has been, and at the moment we're in a position where we need a win pretty badly,so for now,I'd be looking more at throwing him on the forward line and just getting a few other guys who are letting us down to pull their finger out.

Perfect reasons for giving him a tagging role.

hale should drop back in defence and fill a defnsive hole rather than go forward, let rocca and thommo contest up there.

wells should just chase the pill and run free

And develop bad habits.

I like it Jozeph.

It would help to see what sort of fitness he has, and hopefully get him involved in where the ball is at more often.

When he is given a free roam he is just not effective enough and unless he improves dramatically he won't be the player to take north forward

There's probably no-one at north that can really show him how to play as a gun midfielder, so why not let him learn the craft off someone at another club

Would be worth trying - get him out to mind Judd this weekend

There was a great quote from Wayne S last night on Fox. He stated that "Wells should become more shelfish in his play."

I totally agree! Especially when moving the ball into the forward line. He always looks for the assist, when all top flight players (eg Hodge, Judd) go for goal.

It could also be that he needs less ppl ramming advice down his throat, it could simply be a case of go out and play, but with the way footy is headed those type of players don't last for long, every player has a job to do, this week Daniel Wells job should be to tag Chris Judd.

.
Pfft.

Rawlings will tag Judd (shut him down to 16 touches last time around).

With Cousins out injured, and if Rawlings can do a job - perfect opportunity for Wells to shine and inflict maximum damage.

What's that got to do with the price of fish in China?

Not the week to play experiments against the best player and midfield in the comp. If you want to play mad professor, let Wells try tagging against Carlton, Richmond or Melbourne.
