For this Saturday lets instead celebrate a game 30
Years ago with our 1992 Premiership reunion team.
They jumped us early, literally. Ablett knocked out Pyke and the Cats
Took a 17 point lead into the first break.
The second quarter didn't start much better, until
Best on ground Peter Matera kicked his 2nd goal
Of the game from outside the 50m arc. Some of
Us dared to dream after Sumich narrowed the margin to 2 goals at the half.

And yet again Geelong kicked the first goal of the quarter. Some
Claimed this was all she wrote. But, unlike most of
Them actually playing this week, this 1992 team was built
For the fight. The Vics were going to get a footy lesson on
Their sacred MCG. "LIKE A CORK IN THE OCEAN" was the brilliant call by WA's
Own Dennis Cometti when Wilson snagged one over his head.

But the best was yet to come.
Now we have had some special Norm Smith winners over the years.
We've had Kemp, Judd, Embley and Shuey. But Matera has
Got them all covered when he "SET SAIL FOR HOME".
Them pussies were licked. Eagles had hit the front and never looked
Back. The cup was headed West and the AFL was never the same
Again. Neither was our great club.

Our 92 side deserves having Optus Stadium packed with
Eagles fans cheering for them on Saturday. They
Have all become legands of our club.
Come Saturday lets thank all of them for bringing that Premiership Cup
Home.

The angles are too subtle to get the hidden message.

I can see us winning this in an epic scrap. All the senior players will stand up and Simmo will make some astute moves during the game to help see us to a rousing victory.

The 4 points will result in massive melts on this board. People will question simmos dedication to our tanking ambitions and Bay for his and his families blood.

Yeo to come back and dominate after an impressive 16 disposal wafl outing. Ceipps to kick a sneaky 5 out the back . Get involved

First thing we should make Tom Stewart accountable down back.

Sorry, I mean yes, I agree.

My second cousin is the events co-ordinator for the ground. I will see if she can organise some sandwiches bomber thompson style and make sure they aren't 100% right. If we can't beat the cats on the park this week the least I can do is give the entire coaching team the shits.

It's going to piss down with rain and our midfield will likely be obliterated with stewart just sitting back and cleaning up all the loose kicks forward.

Tipping 110 to geelong with us scoring sub 40.

I'll be catching the game on replay as I'll be at the Busselton vs Augusta Margaret River fixture this weekend. For anyone there i'll be taking some scouting notes and watching my (younger) cousin play league for Margs. If you want to pop over and say hello I'll be the well dressed guy who doesn't look like he's from the country but in a moonboot with crutches. After the colts game is finished happy to organise a few drinks for any of the local west coast supporters who want to pop down.

Well, it's now officially after the bye. We dragged our sorry arses over the line and regrouped. I've been less than interested in watching games to this point and usually walk away from the TV at some stage. My footy mind is kind of on mute, the Eagles have been a dull blur in the background.
Even here on BF, it's become dull and repetitive, there's not much to talk about and everything gets dissected to death.

But hey, we're into the 2nd half of the season and it appears that we've regrouped to some extent. We are arguably about to field the best team all year!? A bunch of senior players, arguably again - our best players? Mixed I imagine with a few of our reliable if not altogether skilled, younger players.

Will they all gel, will there be connectivity and continuity, will there be some sort of game plan, will they keep their pants on for the 1st quarter? Will they win a quarter or maybe a half? Will we see some fluid passages of play? Will the midfield link up with the forwards? Will the backs be more attacking?
Quite simply, will anything different happen?

So I reckon it's time to inject a bit of positivity amongst all the jadedness, the cynicism and wholesale negativity.
We may not win the game, but we might finally get to see some "little wins", we might get to see a change, a light, a spark, possibly -dare I say, a turning point? ( a risky thing to say I know)
So I'm going to throw my hat into the ring, wear my heart on my sleeve, stick my neck out, take another slurp of plonk, and say "Come On Eagles!!"
Lets see what you got!?
Gawd, anything's better than watching Pavalovich talk about himself, his recent award and his love for his purple minions?
Somebody save us????

Cat's going to go in dry at GHB stadium.

It is kinda funny that folks still think we are going to "snap out of it" and fire some shots.

Suns and Radelaide might have checked out enough for us to get close at the back end of the season but anyone around the 8 will be putting us to the sword as per the first half of the year. Bombers next week will be looking for an easy kill to take some pressure off after they finish embarrassing themselves in their 150th celebrations against St Kilda this week.

Not really, just trying to squeeze some pus out of the boil of 'reality', slap a bandaid on it and call it a positive? Some desperate gesture to make a silk purse from a sows ear, but enough of the mixed metaphors, just felt like posting something positive for a change...
Seriously, we could fire some shots, its' improbable but not impossible, regardless of a win or loss...

This week i expect a more balanced team
We finally have a few more to choose from, there's pressure for spots, so i'm hoping its not just CITB returning and some hard decisions are made at the selection table.
If any players are underdone, carrying niggles - please rest them, and play only the ones that are cherry ripe

Geelong are slow starters Rd 1 or after the bye (although Round 1 this year they smashed the Bombres) so with a wet day predicted, i hope we choose our team accordingly and make this a proper contest..
