Trey Ruscoe has signed with South Fremantle. Not ideal for the Beagles.
Just another nail in the coffin of this basket case WAFL side. It’s been such a failure - should just give it up and make it cease to exist.

We literally recruited Ruscoe and he bailed after a year. Can’t blame him though.

That’s a bugger Ruscoe is leaving. Was very good this year for us and seemed popular around the club.

He provided a good training extra over the preseason as well helping to make up numbers for match sim work

One thing I am curious about is the how of him going to Souths - specifically whether they targeted him to move away from West Coast. It’s been pretty clear we’ve been discouraged/not allowed to recruit established players from the WAFL clubs so it’d be disappointing if they’ve gone after one of our WAFL recruits

(I’m choosing to ignore the fact that there’d be few, if any, WAFL players wanting to play for the Beagles as it’s still a valid point)

Another 2 years at least

By far Pykes worst call so far in his short time in charge..

What do they call doing the same thing over and over and expecting things to change?

Ex afl players will try to revive their careers by hoping to get drafted by the eagles. If that doesn't happen there's no reason for them to stay at this rabble

You get the sense Ruscoe only ever came to snare a spot on our senior list. Once he was overlooked in thr MSD he was goneski.
Yep. I went looking for any articles and came across one from one last year and it said we on the race for him from Souths. To leave for souths 12 months later suggest he had hopes of joining us

Is the club going to sort the dumpster fire out? It is no suprise the WAFL Eagles started in 2019 and our development has been appalling since. I think its one of our biggest issues atm, which is saying something.

Our development has sucked for much, much longer than this. We have had an extremely low hit rate since our 2010 super-draft.

Your mind has, likely as a protective mechanism, forgotten the vast array of spuds we have drafted and delisted during the past decade+

Ruscoe also worked for the club doing community stuff, so presumably would cease that too if he moves WAFL clubs.

Anyway whatever, the WAFL situation is a disaster doing us active harm, and whether or not that continues is without regard to Ruscoe (or any similar battler we acquire in his place) being there to plug a hole on-field and save a goal or two.

Pyke needs to sit down with Adrian Barich and ask “on what terms and under what circumstances could you see your Perth FC members accepting an alignment?” And then nut out some sort of acceptable alignment arrangement from there.

It just makes too much sense for both clubs. They’re based at the same oval. They’ve both been uncompetitive for a long long time. Perth are basically a pre-alignment Peel, but with a longer history and bigger supporter base.

I know the Perth members are strongly against it after seeing the East Perth experience, but there has to be some form of an alignment that can address their concerns while still being of benefit to West Coast.

It would be a certainty he has sat down with them.
It can only work if the WAFL club is in charge, yes they need to work with the Eagles but the Eagles cannot call the shots. It falls over every time with the Eagles because they want to be dictators. That is the sticking point for Perth and probably any other club now.
I honestly think the alignment could work and it would be better for the Eagles and also for Perth. Makes so much sense except for that one obstacle which is the dictatorship from the Eagles.
Sit down with Barich and find a way.

If history teaches us anything, it's that putting Perth FC in charge of a WAFL set up is a surefire way of finding success.

Barra would be too worried what others thought and wouldnt go ahead with it ( Even though it should).

Easy to say in hindsight but Ruscoe was the wrong type of pick-up. Should be targeting senior blokes who aren't looking for an AFL playing spot anymore and can use it as a way to transition into coaching.

Welcome (back) Alex Witherden.

He would actually be a good idea for a development coach in that he has a verrrry good footy brain.

Yeah wasn't a piss take. However I think he wants to make a bit more money playing lower leagues before that kind of stuff.
