its not like there going to be wearing footy boots on the ground. should be fine.

thats true a wet ground with people sliding, tackling and running will cut up as much or more as people standing, walking in shoes would.

plus the grounds been hard as a rock all year and we have ahd **** all rain!! only problem there would be is at the sporties end where the stage is set up.

well, it absolutely pissed down yesterday.. i haven't been to the ground but i'd imagine it wouldn't be in good knick today..

just quietly, was Sale's hand forced regarding the location? i'd imagine they wouldn't have been to welcoming about using the ground? did the Council overide/force them? anyone know?

I would say Sale wasn't forced into the move as the Sale Show grounds was a discussed location and would of been ideal for a concert.

The ground looked in good nick, a few muddy areas formed where there was alot of patronage, and then was just mostly on the boundary near the toilets and entrance.

Moshpit area was covered by plastic sheets, so I will assume that no damage was done in the area with high volumes of people

Sale's ground is actually council property so im pretty sure Sale wouldn't have had much say? if they didn't doubt it would mean much?
Maybe a hidden agenda by the council to get some funds for some upgrades to the ground? only reason i could see you would permit something like that on a footy field.

Would be a waste with the proposal of Sale North due to take place within the next 4 years

do not think sale would care if the ground was trashed or not it was an awesome event and they would have surely got some profit out of it and t have it at their ground would have been a priveldge

i saw this on the north gippy thread and thought it would be interesting for thwest gippy

Was thinking of a mid year draft for west Gippy - Bottom club on ladder has first pick of player within the league, then next team so on and so on, can be anyone to aid your weaknesses. This is a mock draft which is quite interesting...some of the best players just dont suit some sides as to where they are.

Anyone have any thoughts on who would go where?

with the players that didnt play, that side would be 3rd string at best that ran out at paky on saturday. the mornigton league have 32 clubs to pick their side from. not suprised they got smashed.

The Peninsula league alone (Which comprised of most players in the interleauge team) would easily be able to beat West Gippsland.

Geelong
O and M
Goulbourn/Mornington Peninsula

I think thats how the standard of footy is ranked now..

dont underestimate the standard of the w.g.l.f.l. , inter-league results arent really a true reflection on standard differences between leagues. the overall standard of footy between the w.g.l.f.l. and other major footy leagues around the state would be very similar i think you would find. most sides in the west gippy, bar garfield and probably sale at the moment, would be more than competitive against any side in the mornington peninsula league

Agreed. I'm sure North Gippy could put a side together that would compete with West Gippy but i'm sure anyone actually believes that it is as quality as west gippy football. What interleague doesnt show is the depth of the league or teams which is what truely makes one league better than the other?

Dlyza, I didnt see the game but was told at least 10 of the players were from the CC league, including Fry, Walker and Goldsack from paky, Hendy from doveton who kicked 6. And the captain was from rosebud which is the lower league.

If this is going to be an annual thing maybe they could do a Gippsland V Mornington and include all the minor gippsland leagues. Majority of players would still come from WGLFL but i am sure a couple from each of the smaller leagues could make the side and improve the standard. Really mornignton are they are 3 different leagues that compete as one anyway.

Saw the Maffra v leongatha game ,Maffra way too good ,season's over Maffra will win this year's GF in a canter.Unfortunately no one will come close to them this year.

You raise a good point leo just wondering who would make the team stronger from minor leagues. From a North Gippsland perspective Travis Ronaldson would walk in, Andrew Stevens would too and Leigh Mcdonald. There is probably a couple of other players too that would make the side but probably not make it any stronger than what it is. East Gippsland Bomber might be able to help with names but i would say Shaun Mooney (Bairnsdale Coach) would make it, is a star player.

Never going to get the best 22 on the field so adding other leagues would give depth that the MPNFL have. Urie and Bergles from ellinbank would play, Mal Michael if he wanted too. Not sure about alberton, Brad Hutchison is a gun and Griffen Underwood if he still plays there.
