He's out of contract, so its not a trade, he can walk. HTF can the Stars fit David and Mitch in to their cap is beyond me.
Hobson, Fanning, Dorf also out of contract and can move.
CA new rule max 10 players in contract.
Happy to keep Agar.

Agar should have been one of the last deals to be done tbf. Yeah he’s good but not a star bowler and suited when bowling with a good bowling group. His batting is also no where as good as it used to be. Losing Mitch would be huge

Behrendorff has to be close to best import WA cricket has had in terms of their actual contribution to WA cricket? Obviously Gilchrist is there but not sure how much he did for WA as opposed to Australia.

Gilchurch won at least one s/s with us & played a match winning innings in that final so hes probably in front in my eyes

Gilly's big century was the shield final we lost against SA when we didn't bowl them out

Did win 2 shield's with us though

fair enough, id conflated the qld innings with the sa innings.

Bloody Tim May and Mcintyre

The 2 we won was down to some well timed cameos from Brendon Julian

That was a great afternoon.

Most of the WA boys we've lost to other teams have been fairly replaceable. Losing the top wicket taker is a blow even if we are going the youth route. Hopefully Beardman can pick up the slack

Apparently we are chasing Joel Paris, bringing him home. I also wouldn't mind using one of our international spots on a quality death bowler. Someone to fill the role Tye used to do.

The 10 player rule is little more than a CA-endorsed leg-up for the Stars and Renegades, who've been chronically mismanaged by Cricket Victoria and been consistently unable to build a decent squad outside of one or two marquees.

It's no coincidence that they're the ones going on the recruiting spree. No-one else gives a shit about "player movement" other than sports journos desperate for something to write about before the footy starts.

That being said, a lot of people thought the sky would fall in when Marsh, Hogg and Bancroft all took big money offers in Sydney or Melbourne, and we've survived just fine.

Paris is a good target, think it's also worth having a look at Short. Morris came on well as a new ball option this season, and there's enough to like about Beardman partnering him at the other end. Hopefully Cricket Australia manages to avoid crippling Jhye any further in the offseason.

Think the priorities have to be:
  • Death bowling option
  • A keeper who can actually play (Joel Curtis an ideal starting point)
  • A second spinner (with a view to playing every game alongside Agar) - we looked miles better once we had Spoors in the side, even if his bowling was a little bit below par (coupled with some odd captaincy from Turner.) Same with Hatzoglou and Ahmed in seasons prior.
  • A decent all-round option who can bat in the top 7 (Agar at 7 remains waaay too high.)

Dorff did mention about settling in Melbourne and I actually wonder if he insisted on the move. If not if I had the choice of signing dorff and Agar, I’d be taking Dorff in a heart beat. Dorff can take wickets and win games. Agar might be 3 years younger but a shadow of the batsmen he was and his bowlings good but not anhuge wicket taker and someone that complements a good a bowling unit

Behrendorf has been dipping his toe into media and commentary work recently. Maybe being in Melbourne will help with further opportunities
