Think i have shoed over 25 years how colts i am and will always be, just coz i go coach some where does not mean i don't chersh the time have spent there.
I may just have a kick in the two's have some fun without the stress.
I'm a realist and understand i can't coach forever and if i'm sacked/ repaced whatever i will not hold a grudge.
As for brett jacobs he has been a fantastic and loyal colts man and has sacraficed alot of the years, i think he has a great opportunity and would have been mad to not take it.

didnt get to hear the broadcast would have been interesting listening maybe someone will fill us in.:thumbsu:

this is big, one of the leagues best leaders moving to an opposition club to take on a coaching role at the same time his present clubs role is up for grabs is amazing.

i'm tipping rnd 1 spotty v port colts (colts are weaker side than this years rnd1) then rnd 2 port colts v sunshine (first past players day of the year second return game against spotty)

Dont understand how you could possibly say or know for that matter that Colts will be weaker in rd 1 2010 than they were rd1 2009.Wouldnt really say Colts coaching job is up for grabs either as the club has a duty to advertise the position to see what quality applicants maybe interested.Saying that any perspective applicant would want to come with a pretty impressive cv as the current coach's record stacks up pretty well and he would be very hard to overlook.

I missed first 6 games this year, along with my whole impact, i'm certainly no loss.....some may even say a gain.
No doubt 2 players very hard to replace but we have managed over the last 7 years to cover good players, even without recruits other players will step up. Colts will be top 3 again after home and away no doubt and come finals time in a position to win a flag.

No idea, there applications closed friday and he as appointed friday night.
Hoppers footy manager - kanga called Kev hiller to make the announcement. Should be intersting to see what players he can bring.

Wasn't Ezard given the flick from Noble Park, around mid season this year, quite surprised Hoppers going with him,ran St.Albans into the ground before leaving them.

Couldn't imagine what players he would bring.

I think it was more a timing issue Sunshine wanted an answer last Thursday and colts applications closed the day after and still have a process to go through.
Brett could have missed the job altogether and thus missing out on a great opportuninty to coach Sunshine.
All are very dissapointed/shattered to have lost our captain and one of our better players, everyone though understand the opportunity he has and wish him all the very best.....except when sunshine meet colts.

Well Done and welcome Brett to Sunshine, his leadership on the field is up there with the best in the WRFL and he gets a chance with a young exciting list.

PS: There will be a few more big announcements out of Sunshine in due time:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Great news that Allan Ezard will be caoch.

No matter who the coach was most will have a negative to say about it because he is going to coach Hoppers Crossing.

I don't see why he would have to bring players with him, we have a great young list and will be even better next year with allot of the younger guys having another year under their belt, so One or Two will recruits will just compliment our list.

Meanwhile Alan Ezard, who was sensationally dumped by Noble Park midway through last season, is expected to be announced coach of South Croydon this week.

Thats a quote from the leader in an article that was written today:confused:
Looks like the appointment has suprised alot of people.

is this the same young and exciting list the experienced tocka could do nothing with. cant see how someone with no experience will take them further but good luck anyway

I believe tocka was an untried coach, just as I was when I took over at colts.
Just because he hasn't coached before doesn't mean he will be unsuccesful. He will play also so that will make them a better side plus his on field leadership will be a massive plus an area where the kangas need it.
We at the colts are sad to have lost one of our favourite sons but we all have to move on, I have no doubt Brett will be a success.

I'm sure no players will follow brett and i don't think he would try anyway.
Hopefully we don't loose anymore, my feelings are we won't.
As for our next Captain that will be for the coach and match commitee to decide. My opinion it will come from massis, twomey or julier all would make great leaders.

Think you can take Julier off that list Rock from the whisper i hear. Also believe Brett will not ask any of the colts lads to follow him. If they INITIATE the expression of interest however. Then that is a total different story.

Believe half of what you see and zero of what you hear...lol
I will tell you 110% Brad Julier will be playing at port colts next year.
Alot of players have got together and are commited to the club, brett's departure has actually galvanised the group, so other than the two jacobs boys i think we will keep everyone else at this early stage.

At this stage some big losses ROCK

D.Jacobs (Best in comp and Colt's equal number 1 mid) (SFL)
B.Jacobs (Best leader in comp and Colt's equal number 1 mid) (Sunshine)
J.Perkins (Colt's best forward) (VFL)
McGregor (Colt's second best forward) (back to the country)
J.Clarke (Colt's Third best forward) (Retired) might not be coach also.
Jackal (not in the same breath as the above. didn't play many games but is a loss) (?)

Am I missing anyone?

That is the biggest and best list of players to leave a club at the one time I have heard of. If Clarke doesn't coach also that is even bigger, you would think it will rattle the place a little in the next few years.
