In days gone kicking against it was a 50/50 option depending on the captain. Reasoning being firstly that sides will come home with the wind and secondly skills are generally lower in the first and intensity and pressure high so as it might be easier to hold a team.

The negaitives are that if you don't hold them you are behind the eight ball all day and also if the wind changes you might only get it for one quarter. These days most think to take the wind straight away while it is there and get off to a good start. With rain forecast though makes it a bit different again.

If i win the toss i go with the wind 99 times out of 100 without thinking about it, the other 1 time i think about and go with the wind anyway:thumbsu:

The third advantage might be in a grand final when you are running out of legs because you have some players well into their 30's who are hanging in by the skin of their teeth, arguably to the detriment of the team, to win just one more flag having the wind in the last might be an advantage.

In a grand final if you are within reach adrenaline will get you through

By the last 1/4 of a gf momentum is the key the wind won't win you a flag, just my opinion

I think in Altona's case, if you were thinking of a big last quarter, you're hoping rather than confident of the fact that you'll run over a side like Colts, Spotty etc. In their case, hope should never have been an option and they should have taken the breeze while it was there. If you have a chance to land a few punches early in a match, you take the chance...so to speak.

Is this theory of yours referring to any team in particular ?

Watched Spotswood v Sunshine

MY thoughts out of the game.

#18 for Sunshine would have to be 1 of the better players in the wrfl along with king. Sunshine lacked in a few areas and obvious 1 was there defence. Sunshine will not be a contender. Early call but my opinion

Luke Molan is streets ahead of any forward in the wrfl.

Overhead hes hard to stop and has a super kick on him. The last 2 games he has really shown why he was a number 9 pick sometime ago.

Now keenen has left hes pulled his finger out got semi fit and will dominate the year. So in saying that he more then covers the Loss of Keenen. Im sure People from Hoppers and sunshine will agree with me here.

The 2 willi blokes who played were more then handy, i thought number 32 was a good get and you would be silly not to persuade him to commit to Spotswood full time. he cant kick but he gets enough of it and would be 1 of the better full backs in the wrfl.

On other teams i dont know alot about Albion?? how are they travelling??

Port Colts would be glad to have there Big Guns back firing. will go along way to ensuring they finish top 3.
Can Anyone Confrim who Webb is for st Kilda City is this the Famous old Fabian Webb???
Wouldnt the Colts love to have him back playing???

Can someone advise me on why Brendan Hollow Went back to Doutta. he was rated in my top 5 players. who would be in the top 5 best players in the comp. its obvious 2 of them are from the colts?? thoughts?

im just adding chat to the forum. getting going people .

Agree with #18 Ben Foley being one of the best players in the comp, obviously our form has been inconsistent and i truly believe that we are going to get alot stronger when hopefully we get our full list on the park. And with #32 he had 6 kicked on him by Morgan King, so that statement seems a bit odd. On another note i think spotty are goin to be very hard to knock off this yr, they missed theodore, montebello and jensen on the weekend and showed they seriously have some strong depth.

Jensen is hardly a big loss, without monte and theodore though makes the effort a bit better. Where is sablich??
Agree with spotty being hard to beat.

Also othe than goring and almond who were the kangas missing???

Who are hoppers still missing?? Beazer

Ok.

West winning will be a jagged pill for Glen Orden to swallow after what was reported as a positive preseason recruiting and training period. It aint panic stations but they'll want to hit back hard this week against Spotty. Anyone know if Glen Orden played with a full book?

We had about 5 or 6 players out but its no excuse!! We would have got beaten by any div 2 team with the peformance we put in on the weekend. I have been at the club since i was about 8 yrs old and in my opinion it would have to be one of the worst peformances ever!!! Will need MASSIVE improvement this week and will definately be working hard at training

hard to imagine an opposition coach not rating another clubs captain
but spotty didnt need him round 1 (hard to imagine why he got belted)

but everyones entitled to rate players as they feel
just as lots dont rate some of ports new recruits

Filo surely your smart enough to know a bit of sarcasm.

Strongbow who are the recruits you do not rate???
I hope it's Tedesco your talking about, as he is alot better than i thought and easily one of the toughest players in this comp. How do your young recruits go in this department.

Just for the record how many times have you seen our recruits play, in our side???

John is a very good footballer(altough i thought he was quiet round 1)

do believe spottys new youngsters dumbleton, wood and morgan would have impressed you round 1 but their not recruits there home grown

Agree he was quiet, his first senior game with alot of senior players missing. Did you expect him to be the match winner???
How would your young blokes have gone if o'keefe, theodore, mangan, mcghie and molan were missing???
As for dumbleton he is quick and has good skills but he does have one down fall, surely you can work it out. Although he is hardly home grown was a willie junior and went to spotty at u/18's but who cares.
To be honest did not notice the others was more focused on how our players were standing up without some of their senior team mates.
Good learning tool.
The way spotty are travelling though,it is better than the last two years players must be thinking 3 peat is a formality.....

nah havent heard any talk of 3 peat by anyone at all
they know theres a long way to go and once you guys have your 10 missing blokes from rnd 1 back you guys will well and truly back in the hunt,

Oh you think, we have a few new faces from last year and lost 4 quality players so will be hard to be up to spotty's gun side and also albion but i'm sure we will do our best.
Personaly i think spotty maybe unbeatable when full strength but i'm yet to see albion so just have to wait and see, but definately a more balanced side than last year.

We have Spotty this week, and going off our perfromance last week( worst loss in the 8 years of being at the club and that includes the 2 grand finals we lost) it could be a very long day out there.

ROCK, Tedesco was he the solid young kid, played through the midfileld against us in round two ??? He has hard at it.

Is the captain that lethivan of a man with tatoos, false tan, waxed chest and bleached hair who got belted by a bloke the size of a leprachorn ? Wants to look up Christian Barnard in the yellow pages and make an appointmet does the captain !!!

Your saying Dumbleton is quick and has good skills but has one obvious down fall and surely he can work it out ? Rock if you wont say it I will.Dumbleton is petrified and if people at Spotty including Strongbow dont rate Tedescoe who gives a flying F--k !!! I know which player you and the Colts would rather have pulling on the jumper.Tedescoe's physical attack on the man and the ball will have alot braver players than Dumbleton jumping shadows so just to shut the doubters up about your young recruit just let the 2 go head to head on the tight confines of Murphys in rd10 and regardless of speed and skill watch somebody get munched !!!!!
