hahaa yeah. Cal had a fanastic 2023 year, I think even won their bnf. Played some games in 2024, then went travelling.
Then signed for this club

Up in Mansfield. Apparantely spends a lot of time up there with his family and felt it was a good fit.

Loved Cal Brown , wanted him to make it so badly. Just had such a humble loveable aura to him.

I think he didn’t love his concussion issues.

Never looked the same after he came back

He's one of my favourites, solely for the interview where he said something like:

My nickname is Drapes, but some of the boys have started to call me curtains. I'm not really sure why. It must be my hair.

Surprisingly, it was before, rather than straight after concussion.

Former Brisbane and Collingwood midfielder Shane O’Bree has been locked in as St Joseph’s College Geelong’s new First XVIII football coach.
The school, which competed in the Associated Catholic Colleges competition, confirmed the appointment of the 246-game AFL player on Thursday.

O’Bree remains connected to the AFL system, working as a recruiter for Geelong, having also been an assistant coach at the top level with the Cats.

He has also coached the club’s VFL team.

“The opportunity to coach at St Joseph’s College is something I am very passionate about, by helping young people perform their best,” O’Bree said.

Why would Chugg head back to Tasmania? The TSL competition is so dead and all the money is in the regional leagues. Even then, playing football in Melbourne has more opportunity, anyway. It's almost a rite of passage for Tassie kids to leave for Melbourne and not return until after they've completed uni or decided they want a sea change. That's why a certain player's sob story about missing mummy doesn't really cut it, particularly when his main barrier was a road, not a strait of water.

Atu's rugby career isn't that surprising given his Fijian heritage. However, he'd need to bulk up considerably to have any shot at playing.
Chugg to remain in Victoria for 2025. Earning better coin out in the country and currently studying in Melbourne.

The ending of the TSL has seen many leave for [insert club not in Tasmania]. Even with the new VFL side coming, SANFL is more convenient (less travel) and pays twice the amount. So less incentive to return.

He seems happy with his life in melb and playing for wonthaggi

Former AFL star and NFL punter Saverio Rocca has told how he chased down a brazen thief at a shopping centre on Sunday.
Rocca said his instincts kicked in when he saw a man stealing some clothes from JD Sports at Northland Shopping Centre.

“I saw a guy, maybe mid 20s, rip out clothes from a shop assistant and I said to the girl, ‘is he stealing that’ and she said yes,’’ Rocca said.

“I asked him to give them back and he said ‘nah, I’m leaving’ and he started running.

“Stupid me, I started chasing him and I was running out the door yelling a few F-words and I said ‘if I catch you I’ll fix you up’. He decided to drop all the clothes and said all right.
“We didn’t come in contact, we just exchanged a few words and I picked up the clothes and dropped them back. If he had have kept going I don’t think I could have kept up much longer.”

Rocca, 51, was a cult hero at Collingwood and North Melbourne after playing 257 games and kicking 748 goals.

He became the oldest player in NFL history to be rookie-listed at any club when he joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007 and played seven seasons for the Eagles and Redskins.

“Afterwards I had to think about what I just did, because you don’t have time to think,’’ Rocca said.

“I’m just glad he didn’t have a weapon or a knife.
“I’m just sick of hearing all these stories that people are stealing. They said it happens all the time and it’s just happening everywhere.”

For his efforts Rocca was given a 40 per cent discount on a pair of sneakers.

Same here, he did all the right things and seems like such a good, unassuming fella. His insta account was always bad dad jokes.

Just not quite good enough to make it, sadly.

Sadly his Kicking was a Massive Let Down

Cal was one of the nicest kids.

The Browns are a quality family.

Once you saw Gavin's respect for his father you knew how it was passed down.

Being Good/Nice Kids does not mean they make it at AFL Level

Sadly, it doesn't, but we want nice people to do well, and Cal was one of the nicest.

Hear hear.

Generally speaking, I'm of the belief that when recruiting through any avenue, character should be a part of the equation.

Not that "he comes from a good family", anglo saxon private school crap, but factors like work ethic, team first attitude, sacrifice and integrity are the kinds of traits that help build a group's culture, and lead to sustained success.

I know that some people will say who cares, I just want flags and I get that perspective.

I think there's enough talent out there that you can build a flag winning side with players you can be proud of and that represent themselves and the club well both on and off the field.

It's how Sir Alex Ferguson built Man U from the ground up.
