Let's all celebrate the fact that perhaps the greatest female singer/songwriter of all time, Joni Mitchell, has finally reintroduced her repertoire to Spotify once more..........
Could have been much more successful if they hadn't knocked back the management of Brian Epstein. This song for some reason always reminds me of the Pink Finks recording of Louie Louie done a year or two earlier. I have no idea how he got it but my brother somehow had this in his record collection of maybe a dozen singles. Back then you didn't buy a record without considerable thought on your choice.
EDIT: Produced by Joe Meek, who also produced Telstar by the Ventures. Using a shotgun he had taken from the drummer of the Tornado's, Meek murdered his landlady after she continually complained about his loud music. He then committed suicide at the age of 38. He suffered mental issues bought on by his heavy drug usage and once held a gun to the head of Mitch Mitchell to "inspire" his playing.
Meek was also a pioneer of recordings using overdubbing, sampling and reverb.
