This group's 1st album "Crazy Rhythms" (1980) is a pre-curser to the 80's jangly guitar alternative rock or college rock sound which they got lumped in with later with more conventional sounding albums.

This is from their 1991 album "Time For a Witness". Vocals have a bit of Dylan styling now but the guitars and rhythms still hint back to the frenetic parts of "Crazy Rhythms".

ulver. tacked a couple of their songs onto a burnt cd of arcturus for the car. decided to see what came up on youtube when i fed ulver into the search bar.

noted the coil logo on the jacket, moved on.

doing some online work later, run ulver's 'themes from william blake..' album through the headphones

this one comes on

which reminds me a lot lot lot of this coil song

Joan Armatrading. Someone a while ago questioned why there weren't any good female guitar players. Here is an example of a great player. Joan also plays bass and programmed the drum track. In fact she is the only musician on the album this track is from.

If you’re partial to a bit of blues then these 2 ladies go alright.
Joanna Connor is an absolute powerhouse and Grace Bowers is getting a lot of attention right now (being young and pretty helps but she can play).
