Thread title pretty self explanatory. What guernsey numbers have you had on the back of your Crows guernseys over the years and for what reason? We can also reminisce about some of the greats (and not so greats) that have worn the mighty tri colours.

I got my first guernsey given to me in the mid 90's. It was one of those old style long sleeve woolen ones. I had the number 27 on my back - number of the great Matthew Liptak. Lippy was much maligned by many crows supporters but was a great player, not to mention that as a 16 year old girl who wanted to be a doctor, he was a fairly hot medical student. Used to sit behind two old guys at the footy who spent the entire game bagging Liptak week in week out. Was stoked when he won a B and F and shattered he sat out the 97 GF.

Unfortunately since Lippy left O'Loughlin, Schell and Stevens haven't quite lived up to the number 27 for me.

I don't have a number on the guernsey I wear at the moment (there's a bloody Nathan Bock signature on it though) but with my next one I think I'll go for 13 or 32. Maybe just get a "1" and "3" with velcro on the back so I can interchange between Tex and Batman.

So what numbers have you worn over the years and why?

LOL love the interchange between tex and batman idea, that's great!

I'm boring, I have 32 on my guernsey, because Roo and Dangerfield are awesome.

Early years (91-94) i had Mathew Liptak’s number 27 however not the same reason as you. Then went overseas for the 95 season and didn’t get our membership back until 98 and jumped on the number 32 bandwagon with as MMM would say “Mark Richoote”

Now i still have 32 with Danger but also love the number 13 with Taylor Walker.

I'm still rocking my early 90s training guernsey with a signed Andrew Jarman #2 on it. Luckily, it's so friggin retro (woolen, and with a collar) that I doubt anyone thinks I'm a massive Moraniac or anything.

Early on I left the back blank as I was always undecided on who was my favourite.... then Bernie Vince came along :D

Since then I've changed every year and gone from 28 (Vince), 17 (Vince), 13 (Walker) and now 23 for McLeod. I'm still hanging out for him to sign it before he hangs up his boots :(

Next year I might go for Ricky Henderson or Richard Douglas perhaps. I'm still undecided.

I don't have any. I don't like the permanency of the printed on numbers, and the stick on ones look a bit tacky. If i did have one it'd most likely be 4, because of Tippo and the fact it was my old number. But i love too many of the guys to choose just one number.

I didn't have a Crows guernsey until the Wednesday before the '97 GF. Thursday night I hand sewed a '3' on the back and drove to Melbourne on the Friday morning with a mate.

I like to think my sewing inspired Jars on the Saturday afternoon.

It doesn't get much of an airing any more. Chris Massie didn't inspire me to wear it often. Nor does Reilly.

Maybe when Reilly retires/delisted Rory Sloane might be able to take up the #3 mantle.

Perhaps an accomplished needleworker such as yourself should just sew a 1 down the side?

My first guernsey had 32 for Roo. Last year I was given a new guernsey as a present, so I got 32 for Danger.

I'd like to get an away strip with Sloane's number, however I will probably wait until Sloane changes his number and they get rid of the Hawk logo!

Currently have Porps #40 on a home guernsey which is all signed by players

I have a #38 Armstrong clash 2008 guernsey which I got randomly.

The 2010 away guernsey space is being reserved until I know for sure what number Rory is next year

My little bloke has #23 on his first guernsey which he can no longer wear and will be framed to go with the pics he has with his namesake. Last season he wore #23 in his club footy but has since changed clubs and couldn't get the same #. So he chose #40 :D. He has a new jumper now, just waiting to hear about Macca's future. He won't put another # on it until he knows if Andy is playing on. (How cute is that!)

doesn't fit anymore (I really need to buy a new one), but the last one I got had #23 on it. before that it was #6.

probably go #32 on the next one I get.

#44.

Yep.

I bought an Arsenal shirt from The Armoury beneath The Emirates, and because there were rumours about Robin van Persie leaving i decided to get one of my other favourites name and number, Kolo Toure, cost me about 50 quid with the name and number.

Fast forward two years, Robin van Persie is still at the club, while Toure left for Manchester City a little over 6 months after my purchase.
