Ok, so it's coming down to the final 24 hours of this years trade week and Burgoyne has still yet to have found a new home. Hawthorn have been the nominated by Burgoyne as his choice of preference and have been front runners throughout this week but have yet been able to negotiate a trade to secure him.

It's been a rather frustrating week, let's not get into the fine details on who's in the right and who's in the wrong. Both teams have strong views! Everyone seems to have different opinions on Burgoynes worth and also the value of the players Port are wanting with pick 9. What's "fair" ?

It seems as though it's come down to a 3rd team being involved to get this over the line, with Williams or Kennedy being used as the bait to secure a 2nd pick for Hawthorn to dish off to Port with their pick 9.

Where do you think he will end up at?

1) Hawthorn?
2) National Draft --- > Hawthorn?
3) Essendon?
4) Melbourne?

It's bee a big week and well done to everyone who have secured the players they were wanting.

If he was to go into the National Draft, he'd go to Melbourne would he not?

If he goes into the pre-season draft he would go to Melbourne. If he enters the national draft, their is a good chance he will slip through to Pick 9, where Hawthorn would snap him up.

Personally I think Hawthorn will offer Schoenmakers (spelling?) along with pick 9.

The sad fact here is that Port think that they can dictate the terms - until another interested side eg Essendon get an earlier pick in the draft then all Burgoyne is worth under the new rules is Pick 9. This is not the best scenario but right now this is all that Burgoyne is worth.

Not a hope in hell. That's basically two first round picks.

Shoenmakers is Hawthorn's long term CHB and No.1 pick from last season.

I think he'd be a good fit at Melbourne. Is cousins with Davey and is close to Bailey.

Melbourne is his second choice of club after Hawthorn.

Can't see how Essendon will get an earlier pick than 9 & if Port don't do the deal with Hawthorn then they will lose him for nothing.

If Burgoyne threatens to go into the ND, don't be suprised to see a deal between Port and Essendon, where Essendon gets Pick 8 and Port Pick 10 + a player or another pick.

Essendon will be waiting in the wings for this to go down. Burgoyne has no say which club he goes to if he elects the ND. Melbourne might even be tempted to use Pick 2?

Hawks are kidding themselves if they think he can get there by any other way than trade.

does anyone else think the bloke isnt worth pick 9 let alone pick 9 and a player ?

He probably is......just.

However, with some of the players Port are mentioning, they would be the ones needing to sweeten the deal with draft picks.

Jordon Lewis....

Doesn't matter what the public think, the only thing that matters is that the Hawthorn recruiting staff have a real hard on for Burgoyne and have agreed on Pick 9 and a player. It just comes down to the player now.

You forgot the option of him re-signing with Port

Lol.

There is NO chance that Port will do another Stevens and let him walk to make a point.

It's a game of ''who will cave in 1st".
Personally, I think Port will deal on pick 9 and whatever they can get from the Hawks.

BTW....Does anyone else think the reason Jolly wasn't publically chased by Hawthorn was because Sydney aren't likely to deal with them after the ROK & Spider shambles from the past few years?

If this happens don't be surprised if Burgoyne goes into the PSD and have Essendon laugh their arse off at Port.

Not really Port will have Pick 10 they only lose 2 spots and Essendon would have thrown in a sweetner.

Port would be happy to get something if he wants to take this road.

Don't know why Port Adelaide would'nt just accept pick 9 & be done with it,better than getting nothing!

I sort of understand both sides of the argument.

Port are firm on what they think he is worth, and so are Hawthorn. It's a genuine impass.

However, Hawthorn have nothing to lose by not getting him, they still have their picks/players. Whereas Port get nothing and lose a player.

Why should they?

Hawthorn have said we will give you Pick 9 and a player. It's Hawthorn that keep baulking at the suggested players.

I don't know why Hawthorn don't offer up Pick 9 and Dowler or Thorp and be done with it.
